Why is American football called football?

Apart from running, it doesn't utilize much use of the players' feet. Not like real football (a.k.a. soccer)

Wouldn't "tackleball" be a more suitable name?

Why do we call it football in England when players can hold the ball and stop the ball with their hands?

That doesn't count because the bulk of the game involves kicking the ball.

Maybe we should remain it "body ball" because the body is used to control the ball.

I can see what you're saying, I'm just being a nuisance. Although I think other counties name it soccer. I think it stems from 100 years ago when an association was formed and they named it soccer.

Hey I've played and watched football for 21 years of my life. I know the rules alright, I'm just playing. No need to call people morons.

Also saying that all players are allowed to touch the ball with their hands is correct. What do players use to take throwings?
