Necrobumping is a really scummy thing to do, but it's just so much fun that I can't help it sometimes.

lets assume I'm old, and I don't know what this is....could you explain it to me?

@SW-User posting on old threads.

@SW-User "Bumping" is a slang word that refers to the act of talking big about the outcome of something, usually a sports game. Like there's a big game tomorrow night so you're telling everyone about how your team is gonna win cos they're the best. You're bumping about your team.

"Necro" means death or dead, and so necrobumping is when you go onto a dead post, like an old thing that was posted weeks ago, and you make fun of someone who was bumping about their team but they lost.

@BlueMetalChick that was a pleasantly unexpected explanation. Thank you.:)

@SW-User I was doing it today on some old posts where Tampa Bay fans were saying that the Lightning were going to win the hockey championship this year. Admittedly, they looked like the team to do it. They had the most wins and most points in the whole league, and even tied the record for most wins ever in an 82-game season. They also won the President's trophy, the Vezina, the Hart, the Art Ross, the Conn Smythe, and the Norris, and led the league in scoring, save percentage, plus/minus, and goals against. So all the Lightning fans were having a great time talking shit about how much better they were than all the other teams.

But the playoffs are here, and the Lightning got swept by the Columbus Blue Jackets. That's right, the best team in the league, won ALL the major trophies, tied an NHL record for wins, they won a grand total of zero games in the postseason and now they're eliminated from the championship run. So I was necrobumping some Tampa Bay fans because it was just too good an opportunity. This is the first time in history, since the NHL formed in 1926, that a team has been swept after winning the President's.

@BlueMetalChick First of all, I was more than a little relieved that "necrobumping" had nothing to do with postmortem fornification or anything. Not that I would judge anyone ,but I'm pretty sure there's a few federal judges and juries across North america that would. I am unappointed, and officially immoral enough to cast any vote, so I keep my opinions locked in a proverbial trunk, that I keep under my bed for rainy days.

I love your explanation...and I don't blame you for "necrobumping" in this case, and it goes to show,at the end of the day, it matters not how you start the race. All that matters is who crosses the finish line first. ;)

@GJOFJ3 thank you sir.
