Why do I listen to a phone-in on the England game?

Some bloke saying England have better players than Spain, that there is a referee conspiracy against England and that he could score 18 goals for Manchester City because he (the middle-aged caller) is a better player than Raheem Sterling. He made all of his points with a pious and self-righteous seriousness.

😂

I swear that the people who call these phone-ins do so because their opinions on football are so inane that nobody else will listen to them. So the whole country has to. I'm turning it off.

As he sits in the easy chair, drink in hand, rubbing his beer belly and becoming a legend in his own mind. Oh, and I bet he's never been on a pitch in a true organized match.

@SageWanderer Exactly. Half the people in the country think they should be coach of the England football team and its the stupidest half.
@Burnley123 Another thing our nations have in common. Here it’s called Monday morning quarterback.

@Burnley123 I always get a kick out of those who have never played saying "we" need to do this or that. Unless you play or played for that side there is no "we".
@SageWanderer that’s a strange way of looking at it. Of course sports fans can say “we” as the fans are an integral part of any club

@SageWanderer @Mamapolo2016 ts all true. The expectations are ridiculous too. England invented the game and we have a strong domestic league because of all the money and overseas stars in the Premiership. Every time you get armchair pundits who expect us to win the World Cup.

There are at least five teams with better players than us and our recent record in major tournaments is terrible. I think the coach is actually over-achieving with this team. None of these idiots who criticise him have a clue.
@Burnley123 not keen on giving us Tarky back then it would appear?

@TopOfTheWorld What do you mean?
@Burnley123 I assumed you’re a Burnley fan but apologies if I’m wrong? I’m a Brentford fan, the team Burnley signed James Tarkowski from.

@TopOfTheWorld Ahhh. You are right.

Nah, we like him very much and £2.5 mil was a steal. He replaced £25 mil Michael Keane after being on the bench for a year and has played better this year than Keane has for Everton.

We got Andre Grey from you too and he was good but really arrogant. Currently on the Watford bench after they paid silly money for him.

I remember playing Brentford in the third tier when you had Robert Taylor and Carl Asaba up front lol.
@Burnley123 Robert Taylor and Carl Asaba, that takes me back. I remember seeing Burnley with Chris Waddle playing for you. Yes Gray always came across as arrogant but he did bang in the goals. I loved Tarky as a player but unfortunately he tarnished things a bit at the end by refusing to play for us against you once he knew Dyche wanted him.
