Simple, the Pros were not allowed, this was not Sidney Crosby and company playing for the gold but a bunch of wannabe's. the USA Women even beat Canada for the Gold. (kinda glad for that as I am from the USA. but I am also a Pens fan and I always rooted for Canada to beat the US when Syd played.

@Elandra77 Just like the old days when the pros weren't allowed, and the US used to send drunk ass college kids to compete in Olympic hockey and the Russians would beat the shit out of them year after year.

@BlueMetalChick Yep. Pretty Much. And not many of them ever made a name for themselves either. But good analysis. 1980 still seems surreal.

@Elandra77 I think it's funny that each nation had their own dream team, America had the one team one year that beat the Russians at hockey and it was their biggest miracle, and Russia had the one team one year that beat the Americans at basketball and it was their biggest miracle.

@BlueMetalChick *smiles* i forgot about Basketball but you right about the US getting beat. It's nice NOT to have a disruption in the NHL because of this, but the US/CAN men's match-up , rematch, was not to be. And that may ring hollow. But no more so than what it once was.
