Why is there both figure skating and ice dancing and why do some act like they ar vastly different?

Just combine the two. The differences are so small and arbitrary.

Not really. Pairs is more athletic, ice dancing is more intricate and artistic, like actual dancing.

[@521796,MethDozer] I just love it when you agree with me. 😁

[@638129,LyricalOne] Well I am a heathen, but the word I think you were after was Philistine. To that I disagree entirely.

[@521796,MethDozer] Come on now, don't go pissing on my moment.

Ummm...I presume you have watched both. They seem quite different to me. Though to be fair, they are both artistic, just one may have more abstract qualities while the other is more architectural.

aside from all your opinions, i hate watching the ice dancing. it makes me wanna hurl. i like watching the figure skating, though, especially the women's singles.

[@521796,MethDozer] lifts and lands aren't the only thing that makes them different competitions. things like 'expression', 'lyricism', and 'fluidity of synchronicity' count more in ice dancing.

just be happy you get to see the gals do their triple-camel-toe jumps on network television. ;)

[@664411,pentacorn] That's all sillyness that could easily be combined into different parts of one event.

You got me there on the camel toe jumps. I now digress.

[@521796,MethDozer] lol... you need to take this up with a higher authority. i'm pretty sure they're not gonna listen, though.

heheheee... finally, some common ground. :)
