Watching a podcast in the office refuting what the Jehovah’s Witnesses say is God’s true name, and how even these zealots for the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society depict the Spirit Being long described as the Creator of the Universe as a human being with His face obscured.
Having read the Holy Bible, in Latin and in Italian, and lately in English, I can happily accept that God is not a human being, and to depict Him as such is to disrespect Him and to bring Him below His nature. The correct way to depict Him is to use His Name:
We are obliged by Christ in his two great commandments to show respect for our Father in Heaven, so putting human imagery to represent Him is extremely disrespectful and unloving. Yes, even the image Michelangelo used in his great work in the Sistine Chapel is wrong and never to be thought of as sacred in any way.
