I've had multiple people—both atheists and Christians—tell me things like...

"I like to pretend like God is real sometimes because it's nice" or "You may as well believe because a reality without God is depressing."

Yes, it is depressing. Does that mean God is real?

Since this is the internet, I have to clarify, I ask this question more in terror than challenge. I'm terrified of there being no God.

One is irrational optimism. The other is rational pessimism. Both are provably wrong.
@SW-User Is there anything that's right?
SW-User
@SinlessOnslaught Yes. Rational optimism: a natural explanation for eternal afterlife and purpose.
@SW-User I've heard you mention it before but I'm not familiar.

@SinlessOnslaught There are exactly four afterlife belief classes and they appear in this order:

1) Natural cessation (rational pessimism)
2) Magical afterlife (irrational optimism)
3) Magical cessation (irrational pessimism)
4) Natural afterlife (rational optimism)

The world is not yet being offered option 4. Only a few know about it.
@SW-User Is this some knowledge that's been discovered or more of a theory?

@SinlessOnslaught It's been around for almost a century but is kept hidden away from public access due to somewhat legitimate national security concerns. It's a proven theory with lots of reliable evidence, now perfected. It would render all the current religions false and cause widespread global upheaval.
@SW-User You've hooked me.
