God doesn't have a definite form. We were created in his image, which means that our traits reflect on his traits, not that he looks like us.
RopinTexan · 31-35, M
@MartinTheFirst If He doesn’t have a form, how did He come to earth 2023 years ago?
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@RopinTexan He didn't, his son did.
RopinTexan · 31-35, M
@MartinTheFirst The Father, Son, and Spirit are one.
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@RopinTexan In one of your ill-conceived interpretations, sure.
Lostpoet · M
@MartinTheFirst How did God blow life into Adam's without having lungs?

Lostpoet · M
@RopinTexan In the religion I grew up in we believed the God, Jesus, and the Holy Ghost were separate entities acting as one in a common goal. that being the salvation of man.

@Lostpoet Was "Adoms" a misspelling?? There's actually an entire article about how wind and breath in the bible refers to the holy spirit, I think it's worth a read if you're interested. That scripture in particular I would say is written in a poetic way, and the important thing that it conveys is that Jehovah created humanity and gave him a soul.

@Lostpoet Imagine if it spelled out exactly how God created humanity instead of simplifying it, I don't think the human mind could comprehend such knowledge, or that there's even enough words to describe it.
Lostpoet · M
@MartinTheFirst In the Bible God said let there be light and there was. If God can create the heavens just by speaking it into existence man was probably pretty easy. I like the breathing into dirt though because it's similar to the Norse creation story.
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@Lostpoet I don't believe in magic personally, although it's romantic. You can see the scientific detail in the nature that God has created, everything adds up like a mathematical equation, I'm sure that the creation of these things were no exception.
Lostpoet · M
@MartinTheFirst Do you believe that God is restrained by the rules of physics?
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@Lostpoet I think he has created the rules of physics because he sees the beauty in laws
Lostpoet · M
@MartinTheFirst Adom was a misspelling yes. I know a lot of Adoms' so it's just normal for me to put that I fixed it right after I noticed though.

I'm not a JW although I think JW and Mormonism have a lot of similar teachings so I can understand where your understanding of the Bible comes in.
RopinTexan · 31-35, M
@Lostpoet That’s polytheism.
Lostpoet · M
@RopinTexan But we only worship God so it's still Monotheism.
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@Lostpoet Mormonism is sooo different from JW...
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@Lostpoet But all religions have something in common
Lostpoet · M
@MartinTheFirst The theology might be different but the operation is the same.
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@Lostpoet To some degree, but that can be said about any religion... sorry I don't find any larger common ground with mormons than I do with muslims
Lostpoet · M
@MartinTheFirst Both our religions believe that Abraham was a prophet same as with Muslims. Maybe I just don't know enough about JW but it seems very similar to what the (Main stream) Lds church does; not the Fundamentals those people seem crazy even to me.
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@Lostpoet Well most of the weirdness originates from that mormons have their own book that they hold to the same standard as the bible

Lostpoet · M
@MartinTheFirst I thought you guys had your own religious text outside of the Bible? And the bible consists of 66 books written by 40 different people.
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@Lostpoet We have articles and resources that studies the bible, they're never taken above or equal to the value of the bible, but it's only a resource to understand the scriptures in the bible and the context surrounding it. The average reader for example won't make cross-references between verses, but the articles does this, quotes the verses, and then you can reach your own understanding by reading the bible.
Lostpoet · M
@MartinTheFirst We believe in God the eternal father, and in his son Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost. First article of faith. Written by Joseph Smith.

I read a little bit of the link you sent and it said Mormons believe in the Trinity or God head which we don't we believe Jesus and God are separate entities.

There is archeology supporting the book of Mormon writings.
