What do you base your beliefs on

Why do so many people base their beliefs on just the bible. And literary? Why would you not take everything into consideration. Logic and feelings. To me it's like trying to cross the lake in a boat but refusing the paddle. 🤣 And then saying the boat's no good 🙄

If you believe the Bible is the inspired word of God.. Then you will base your beliefs ( in regard to religion ) on what is revealed in the Bible.. And ""literary"" did you mean to write Literally? if you did, very few Christians believe that the Bible is 100% literal.. The Bible often uses Symbolic writing.. The Mixture of Literal and symbolic in the Bible is, I believe, The way God hides deeper meanings / revelations from people who are not serious about seeking, believing and learning from God..

As for your point about a boat and rowing.. I can see the boat as representing the Bible and the paddling effort a human using their one intellectual abilities to interpret the Bible as they think it should be.. They will get to a destination with all their paddling.. But it will not be the destination God made the boat for them to reach.. The Bible is like a boat and the Holy Spirit that guides the boat is like a rope across the lake, tied to the boat and ending at the exact destination God wants the boat to go to.. Getting into the boat is an act of faith that the One guiding the boat will lead you to the perfect destination.. Some people want to be in control because they cannot trust, they trust in themselves without realizing that they are imperfect not having the mind of God..
