“We are going to die, and that makes us the lucky ones. Most people are never going to die because they are never going to be born. The potential people who could have been here in my place but who will in fact never see the light of day outnumber the sand grains of Arabia. Certainly those unborn ghosts include greater poets than Keats, scientists greater than Newton. We know this because the set of possible people allowed by our DNA so massively exceeds the set of actual people. In the teeth of these stupefying odds it is you and I, in our ordinariness, that are here.We privileged few, who won the lottery of birth against all odds, how dare we whine at our inevitable return to that prior state from which the vast majority have never stirred?”

I have an odd pov I think.
I used to wanna give my life to God, then I went through things that changed everything about how I think. I learned not to trust mans word. & Imo.. religion & everything in it is all man's word. Maybe God did speak through them.. I truly don't know. But I choose not to put my faith in anybody telling me how to live & instead choose to believe in being a good person. Because if there is a god out there & he's good like they say, how could I have ever been wrong by simply being a good person?
I do pray at times & I treat it like a regular conversation just to talk... because I don't know who I'm talking to. Maybe it's a woman, maybe a man, maybe an it. Or maybe there's 20. But I hope
& The way I see death is a whole other story. But I've faced it many times & I don't fear it anymore. What I fear is not living my life before that happens

@SW-User I kinda think that's actually one thing that all religions have in common as well.. they might worship different things but at the end of the day it's about being a good person 🙏

@ChiefJustWalks exactly 👌🏼

@ChiefJustWalks Only God is good... Every human being falls short in the being good department..

Yes death is a reality and so is heaven for those who have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Saviour.
Yes life goes fast ,I think of this poem.
When as a child I laughed and wept, time crept
When as a boy I laughed and joked time walked
When I became a man time ran
Later as I older grew time flew
And soon eternity begun time gone!!

@TheWildEcho I like that. Here’s ya another one.
Only one life will soon be past, only what’s done for Christ will last! 🙂

@SW-User Trust God.. Because God being perfect does not lie... Just remembner to believe Him and acknowledge his teachings as good and true..
JestAJester · 31-35, M
I envy that belief in people, that they think it'll all be worth it in the end, that they think there is a special place awaiting them. I cannot simply just believe in such fantasies. So death is a scary concept I don't like to dwell on
Adstar · 56-60, M
@JestAJester If one believes that God exists then all things are possible.. Because God being GOD can make these things happen..
JestAJester · 31-35, M
@Adstar Provided "God" exists. And also provided "God" is capable and willing to do these things. A lot of uncertainty there. Also my belief or disbelief in him makes no difference to whether or not he exists. He's not Freddy Krueger, where as long as you don't believe he doesn't exist. And lastly, you guys put an awful lot of faith into thinking he's the God from the bible and not some other deity.
Adstar · 56-60, M
@JestAJester It's not hard to have Faith in the God of the Bible.. His message is sweet..
And yes i totally agree God exists no matter if one believes in him or not..
And there is no uncertainty if God exists and He is God then he can do all those things..

Believing Jesus is LORD makes death much easier AND deals with the problem of our sins totally..

I figure by the time you see that blinking light in the corner of your eye, you're probably well and ready to go. I don't think it's a letting go so much a 'get me out of here.'
I don't think sin exists, whatever brings you enlightenment and serenity is what works for you.

@Graylight There is sin everywhere. Harming others by murder, abuse, adultery, backstabbing, stealing, and the list goes on. These people need to be held accountable for their sins and pay for them deeply.
Graylight · 51-55, F
@SW-User People are held accountable. But rather than believing human fallibility can get us on God's naughty list, I see mistakes and poor decisions to be learning opportunities through death and rebirth.

yeah my life is always better when i pray regularly but i make half done prayers so I simply don't when im depressed which makes everything seem like a simulation, which i think is a punishment in itself lol
SW-User
Omg, I’m the same way . When I’m depressed I don’t pray and I think that makes it harder. 🥺❤️🌈@SW-User

@MoonlightLullaby Even reading a little should be good. I’m lazy at reading. It’s hard for me to focus on a book for long periods of time.

You have my envy on a colossal scale, I only wish I could suspend reality in my mind as much.

The concept of any man-made religion on our planet earth is absurd in literally every single instance.
