I Lost My Faith

As I went to pick up some food today; I started chatting with the waiter there till the food gets ready. He told me that a bigger percentage of Egyptians do not fast Ramadan now, I was pleased with this, so I was like; "Oh really"? With a big smile on my face!! Then I realised what I did as I saw his face reaction, so I repeated it again: "Oh really"? But just changed my tone and face expression. 馃槄

@Patricia12: Were you a Muslim?
Iwillsurvive22-25, F
@ReincarnatedPhoenix: when i was 16 i was close to convert to islam.
Because of a boy i loved and i was 100% sure that it is THE religion. Well was not.

@Patricia12: hahahah quite ironic ... when I try to think as to why I lost my religion, there isn't an obvious reason, probably the accumulation of so many discussions, questions and things I read about, but the ironic thing is that to me, the matter that probably made me so angry to have the courage to question things is when I felt I have no rights whatsoever because I knew a man at the time who was not Muslim and it was just impossible to even consider committing to him.

@ReincarnatedPhoenix: yes i understand.
So the way you live now is better?
My religion is philosophy haha. My philosophy lessons helped me in life and i learned much about alternatives
@Patricia12: what do you think you used to like about Islam? The rituals? the prayers? the supposed brotherhood?
Iwillsurvive22-25, F
@EarthlingWise: i liked the prayer yes. Rituals no noot at all.
That they all were like a big family was nice. You were a part of something. I felt strong and like God protected me and was always with me. I was confident.
I think people look for non materialistic experiences and they are made to believe only religions can provide that.
