John Lennox on Faith

“Faith is not a leap in the dark; it’s the exact opposite. It’s a commitment based on evidence… It is irrational to reduce all faith to blind faith and then subject it to ridicule. That provides a very anti-intellectual and convenient way of avoiding intelligent discussion.”
Professor John Lennox

@Tres13 John Lennon was a socialist. John Lennox - not so much. Imagine living for your belly. Imagine going through life's struggles with no purpose. Imagine seeking your pleasure as your greatest reward and your avoidance of bad circumstance your greatest calling. Yeah Lennon is dead and we are all better off if we ignore his materialistic outlook. Without a vision the people perish. Witness present day western culture.

I’m not. You are in persisting the myth that God the creator is like a pagan god. . @Lynda70

LOL! The Pagan gods are more plausible than the self-contradictory christian one. As Odin created the universe from the remains of the Frost Giants, He is the creator.

Imagine we’re right. That we’ve outgrown god, and don’t need him anymore.
Mathers · 61-69
Oh dear Linda that just shows how little you know@Lynda70
Mathers · 61-69
@DocSavage So with your 3lb brain you’ve outgrown the God who made the whole universe. Similarly with the way we are running this world . How deluded you are.
Lynda70 · F
@Mathers Your arrogance doesn't make your claims true, it just shows you don't have a logical argument.
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
@Lynda70
Your arrogance doesn't make your claims true, it just shows you don't have a logical argument.
Speaking the Truth of God is not arrogant, only pushing the lies men to become true is arrogant, Lynda. BTW, you know nothing about logic, only what you guess would be logic.
Tres13 · 51-55, M
Paul wrote those lyrics @Mathers
Mathers · 61-69
@Lynda70 proves how little you know anyway!
Mathers · 61-69
As you hadn’t spoken one word of logic yet what do you know about logic? Go away and read some CS Lewis@Lynda70

@Mathers
There you go again. Claiming god made the universe. Let’s get this straight as to it is I’m denying.
A supernatural, spiritual being . who lives outside time and space. Apparently the sole occupant of this dimension, who after popping into existence from nothingness. With not only the power and ability to conjure matter and energy from nothingness, and from the universe. But with the knowledge and plan for life, that would take billions of years to grow into something with a 3 lb. brain. Capable of serving this plan. And that’s just some of the basics. Despite the vast size of the universe, his attention seems to be centered on one small planet’s population. Which is so special to him, he sends his only kid, to straighten their morality out. Who, after a bad weekend returns home. But promises to come back soon , so we can all met dad, personally and find out why he went to all this time and effort, when he could easily have included his goal at the onset.

God didn’t make the little green apples It don’t rain in Indianapolis I the summer time.....@DocSavage
DocSavage · M
So. He used red apples. At least they were ripe
Mathers · 61-69
Because it is beyond your comprehension you think it doesn’t exist? That is a very broadminded attitude@DocSavage
DocSavage · M
@Mathers
I comprehend it. I just don’t believe it
Mathers · 61-69
Because of course that takes informed faith@DocSavage
