Why do you fail to accept the theory of evolution? [Spirituality & Religion]

Do you understand it and still reject it? That i don't have much of a problem with.
But there are WAY too many creationists who say things like "evolution is just a theory!" and " if we evolved from apes, why are there still apes?!"

In short, their rejection comes from a place of ignorance.
I would love to clarify any issues with evolution you might have

the fact that things have similarities shows the work of one
work evolve
one thing flow into another
one idea change into another
I refuse to believe that everything from one cell organisms to intelligence and intricate thought out systems(on earth and in the heavens) come from something less than awesome
so
if you say evolution
I say ok yes
but it's all in Awesome hands
it is his work
it's not all perchance
@JustImagine: That's where I am on it. There is a supreme force behind abiogenesis and evolution. Science does not conflict with the "God of my understanding".

@Celine: For all your talk, you have yet to prove the non existence of God, my dear. What is your goal?

if all this is without careful planning
I'll eat my sombrero

@Celine: I understand why you're ignoring me. I would too if I were you, but you're hilarious. As we say down here, "Bless your heart!"

@Celine: Oh, I don't know. I just wonder what your objective is. I do the same thing with politics or anything else. It's fun to feel 'right'. I totally understand that. I don't want to be on your shit list or anything. I don't mean this in a 'weird' way, but I like you, and I kind of regret crossing swords with you in the first place, but have my soapbox too, and I can't seem to keep my mouth shut sometimes. I'm just a very heretical Deist. I'm just above a Satan worshiper on the fundamentalist food chain. I always have an irresistible urge to 'defend' Deists and Theists of all types though, and I commit the most heinous blasphemy of all in the Atheist doctrine and refer to Atheism as a 'religion', because, from my perspective, it has many of the earmarks of a religion. However, it lacks the 'supernatural aspect' BUT- I HAVE seen atheists sacrificing nothing on an non existent altar to no one! Next time I'll be sure and take pictures!

@puck61: You didn't respond to this when I mentioned it on another tread, so... perhaps this time?

1. there's no proof that gods exist (otherwise we'd all be theists)
2. there's no proof that gods don't exist (they might be lurking around a mountain-top somewhere)
3. in any event, there's no compelling necessity to postulate the existence of gods, and the postulation explains nothing... it merely tries to explain everything away.
4. therefore, I have no gods (I'm an agnostic atheist)

Any claim in there that gods don't exist?
If not, why would I require proof for a claim that gods don't exist... a claim I haven't made?

@newjaninev2: Mind games. You know what you don't believe. I don't know a thing about you, but if you are an adherent to atheism, then you deny the existence of God. We both know this.
The 'God of my understanding' has absolutely no conflict with proven science, so perhaps we are all spinning rhetorical wheels here.
@Celine: It looks like two nasty little people taking a cross away from 250 thousand people who wanted the cross. That's one of the things it looks like.

@puck61: "you deny the existence of God"
Where have I done that?

@puck61: Mind games? In what way? Perhaps you'd be so kind as to clarify what you mean?

@puck61: The 'God of my understanding' has absolutely no conflict with proven science.
There's no such thing as 'proven science', so any such conflict couldn't arise in any case.

The problem for those who try to drag deities into scientific Theories isn't a problem of conflict... it's the lack of compelling necessity to do so.
@newjaninev2: 11th commandment. "You do too know what I mean" I kind of thought the earth being round or the presence of gravity as being 'proven science' You guys have fun. You're just being passive aggressive and you know it. Enjoy your religion. Is there a compelling necessity for you to take an unproven idea and try to establish it as superior to another unproven idea? Is that smug self satisfied feeling of intellectual superiority that important to you?
Okay!

@puck61: You're conflating 'accepted' with 'proven'.
Science never tries to prove its Theories... it tries to disprove them.

All scientific Theories are unproven.
Scientific Theories are required to consistently and coherently account for all the available evidence, and are accepted only so long as they continue to do so. Consequently, all scientific Theories are in peril at all times, and scientists unceasingly attempt to falsify them.

The key to that statement is the word 'evidence'.

@Celine: Goodnight. All this pretentious passive aggression is giving me a headache. You think I'm stupid? It's insight and discernment. Your intention here is like a neon sign. It's nothing more than a spiders web meant to catch people that you can mind f-ck to give yourself A SMUG SELF SATISFIED FEELING OF INTELLECTUAL SUPERIORITY.....It's really kind of tacky when you think about it.
Start at the beginning of your thread and go to the end and lie to yourself some more!

@puck61: I reviewed the thread, which you entered with the unsupported claim "There is a supreme force behind abiogenesis and evolution".

Throughout the thread you failed to support that claim, failed to show any basis for even postulating such a thing, and failed to address the points I raised.

Your failure to support your claim constitutes neither success nor intention on my part... it's simply your failure to support your claim.
Are you new or something? Look what you're doing. It's crazy.😓😖

@puck61: Could you be specific?
