not in the christian church.. christian pastors are allowed to marry
@theowl: Catholics are Christians, too, but I was wondering if any other denominations had that restriction.

im not sure if there are different denominations but catholics that i know of didnt see christ as the same as God. christians dont put much thought about mary. its based on the trinity. God. Christ and the holy spirit.
@theowl: As an almost lifelong Roman Catholic, I have to know---which Catholics are you referring to who "don't believe in Christ" ? 😳

Yes I'm also an RC from a very religious background, you've definitely got it wrong @owl
@theowl: Per Catholiconline:

What we believe about Jesus

Who is Jesus Christ?

Jesus Christ is God the Son, who became man for us.

Is Jesus Christ truly God?

Jesus Christ is truly God, the Second Person of the Trinity, the Son, the Eternal Word, who with the Father and the Holy Spirit always was, is, and always will be.

'In the beginning was the Word' (John 1:1)

And regarding Mary:

Among the titles given to Mary is "Queen of all the Saints". In one of his reflections on this woman whom he loved with such devotion, Blessed john Paul II proclaimed "This woman of faith, Mary of Nazareth, the Mother of God, has been given to us a model of our pilgrimage of faith. From Mary we learn to surrender to God's will in all things. From Mary we learn to trust even when all hope seems gone. From Mary we learn to love Christ, her Son, and the Son of God. For Mary is not only the Mother of God, she is the Mother of the Church as well"

@bijouxbroussard: as for mary outside of the catholic church we dont put much emphasis on her. its all about christ. mary was a sinner like everyone else but God had different plans for her. other than being the mother of christ we dont worship her. its all about God.
@theowl: But that's not what you said; you said Catholics don't believe in Christ, and that is untrue. The doctrine also honors Mary, but not above Christ.

Mary is a saint to Roman Catholics, it doesn't mean that Christ is not at the forefront of our beliefs @theowl:

all i heard before was that he wasnt seen as the same as outside of the catholic church. like within the catholic church mary is on the same level or almost above him.
