I believed in God for 13 years of my life. Since I stopped, I've actually gained more value for my life knowing that it was all in my hands to be who I wanted. There was something freeing about realizing I didn't owe my whole life to Jesus. I respect those who believe in it, and I ask that they respect me. However, for me, atheism is one of the most eye opening experiences I've had. :)

I'm an atheist. Please don't speak for me. I'm not defined by my lack of belief, you're behaving like a believer

So I can't be an atheist, if I believe there is something beyond death?
Benny5678 · 41-45, T
@Mordimoux: an existence isn't an afterlife though. I guess technically it is, but conceptually it isn't

Well, it is the same thing, if you look at the definition of afterlife. "The afterlife (also referred to as life after death or the hereafter) is the concept of a realm, or the realm itself (whether physical or transcendental), in which an essential part of an individual's identity or consciousness continues to exist after the death of the body." Key part being the "continues to exist", which i'd say is the same thing as an existence. We are moving towards semantics territory. I think an atheist can believe in this. Maybe your definition of an atheist is different. I'm fine with agreeing to disagree.

@Mordimoux: i agree, technically it is. But we use the word afterlife to define a heaven or reincarnation, which is why i said conceptually it isn't. But yeah, you've made your point. My definition is the same as yours, no different

Censorship? Oh really?

Again... Please stop generalising.

It's ridiculous to classify a large group of people as all being the same.
