It was not just because they happened to live there it was because of what they did to Israel God's chosen sometimes we as people can't understand what God can and we just have to have faith and understand if we knew and could do everything God does than we wouldn't need him and would destroy ourselves.

Read your Bible. All that they were doing was living there. Either God wanted them out of the way so His chosen people could live there, or else the whole story was contrived by the high priest to excuse their disgusting behaviour. The Israelites used to kill everything. Men, women kids, animals.... Everything... Read the book of Joshua..

“In the cities of the nations the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, do not leave alive anything that breathes. Completely destroy them — the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites — as the LORD your God has commanded you. Otherwise, they will teach you to follow all the detestable things they do in worshiping their gods, and you will sin against the LORD your God” (Deuteronomy 20:16-18). The Israelites failed in this mission as well, and exactly what God said would happen occurred (Judges 2:1-3; 1 Kings 11:5; 14:24; 2 Kings 16:3-4). God did not order the extermination of these people to be cruel, but to prevent even greater evil from occurring in the future.
Like I said we do not know the reason for everything God does, but we do know there is a good reason.

Unfortunately, yes some bibles have been modified to the point where you cant believe them but thankfully some haven't and thankfully you can buy concordances!

It's not about being a good person at all its about having a relationdhip with the one who created you! Everyone has feelings and doubts

Each to their own. I find it very difficult to have faith in a book that was written by humans, lost, rewritten from memory, translated into Greek then translated again into other languages, then interprated by various different humans to suit their own agenda.
...but... as I said, each to their own...

It was written by God through humans and has been translated since yes
