Is There a Good Argument Against the Bible?

No.

Have you ever heard a good argument against the truth of God’s Word? Now, there are some arguments that are harder to answer than others (though most, I find, are just based on a misunderstanding of what the Bible teaches), but are there any that are actually good arguments?

Well, no, actually, there aren’t! And why not? Because to argue against the Bible, you have to borrow from the Bible in the first place. In other words, just to make your argument against the truth of God’s Word, you are assuming the truth of the Bible.

How does this work? Well, imagine an atheist tells you (as I’ve had them tell me) that they won’t believe the Bible because God is supposedly a genocidal, self-obsessed maniac. This argument assumes being genocidal and self-obsessed (neither of which is true about God, by the way) are both wrong. But why?

In the atheistic worldview, there is no such thing as right or wrong, good or evil. Morality is completely subjective. But this atheist is assuming there are moral absolutes . . . which come from the Bible and the eternal Creator God! So to make his argument, he’s assuming as true what he claims to believe is false.

At our Answers Homeschool Experience at the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum this past spring, Dr. Jason Lisle of the Biblical Science Institute presented on why there are zero rational arguments against the truth of Scripture. It’s a wonderful presentation on presuppositional apologetics, and I encourage you to share it, particularly with teens and young people. You can watch it in full here or on our YouTube channel.

It's really sad when secular scientists can't admit that their judgements in science are wrong being so adamant on being right. The come to the conclusion that science will never discredit the Word of God for fear of being ridiculed for believing the Truth rather than the lie.

Other than the 2500 factual errors it contains and the obvious bits of plagiarisms from other sources of bronze-age silliness it’s a pretty good bit of speculative fiction from a time when people thought the world was flat and had corners.

What errors?
Knew you never actually read it.
@GodSpeed63 What errors? Have you never read the bible?

Here are some obvious ones (there are many, many more):

(Genesis 1): The universe, Earth, light, plants, animals, and humans were created in six 24-hour days. The text states that plants were created on the third day, while the Sun was created on the fourth.

Modern cosmology and geology show that the universe is approximately 13.8 billion years old and the Earth is about 4.5 billion years old. The process of cosmic and biological evolution occurred over vast eons, not six days. Photosynthesis, essential for most plant life, is impossible without the Sun.

(Genesis 6-9): A global flood covered all the mountains on Earth. All land-dwelling, air-breathing animal species were housed in a single wooden vessel (the Ark) and survived for months.

Geology: There is no geological evidence for a single, simultaneous global flood. Such an event would have left a distinct, uniform sedimentary layer across the entire planet, which has not been found.

Physics: The volume of water required to cover the highest mountains (like Mount Everest) would be more than three times the total amount of water on Earth.

Biology: It would be impossible to collect and house two of every species (or seven pairs of some) on the Ark. The number of species is in the millions (including insects and other invertebrates). The logistics of feeding and caring for them, and managing waste, on a vessel of the described size are insurmountable. Furthermore, such a genetic bottleneck would be evident in the DNA of all species today, which it is not.

(Joshua 10:12-14): During a battle, Joshua asks God to make the sun and moon stand still, and they do for "about a full day."

This would require the Earth to abruptly stop its rotation. According to the laws of physics (specifically inertia), a sudden halt in the planet's spin would cause catastrophic devastation on the surface. Everything not anchored to the bedrock would continue moving at the Earth's rotational speed (over 1,600 km/h at the equator), leading to a complete destruction of the atmosphere, oceans, and life.

(Genesis 5): Early humans lived for extraordinarily long lifespans. For example, Adam lived to be 930 years old, and Methuselah lived to be 969.

Modern biology and the fossil record show no evidence of humans ever living for multiple centuries. The absolute maximum documented human lifespan is 122 years. The biological processes of aging (cellular senescence) make such lifespans impossible for humans as we know them.

A serpent speaks to Eve in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3), and a donkey speaks to its owner, Balaam (Numbers 22).

Animals do not possess the brain structures (like Broca's area) or the vocal anatomy required for complex, articulated human speech. This is considered a biological impossibility.

Oh, and pi is equal to 3 according to the bible. As you should know, pi is a transcendental number, not an integer.

What errors? Have you never read the bible?

I see you've read but you never understood it which accounts for the hatred you have for it. Typical human reaction.

@Adeptlinguist actually know where does it say that the Earth and all it's inhabitants from plants to Man was created in any literal 24-hour day. Translators misunderstanding of the Hebrew word y o m or y o m e, which can mean a period of time a span of time a space in Time. And for some reason they decided to use 24-hour day. The 24-hour day was not created until the 4th day. Nor do they give account to 2nd Peter 3:8 a day to the Lord is as a thousand years and a thousand years is as a day, no timetable.

Nowhere in the Bible does it say the Earth is 6,000 years old that is man's interpretation not scriptural error.

You know when you read Revelation in the new heaven and the new Earth there will be plants and there will be no sun, and there will be no oceans, there will be no moon. The light of the Lord that gives life. The light of the lord gave plants life and he set the Sun and Moon in place to keep that life going.

Global flood! The Earth was once a water world new evidence has presented. And there was no land visible. Funny how the Bible says God gathered the waters together in one place and then God made land appear. Didn't say how he did it, just that he did it. And there are articles written that the global flood was possible, there are articles written of 40 50 up to 300 days of continual rain in areas........ But we neglect to understand when the words the ""whole world"" is used that means where people are / people were not over the whole world 4 to 10,000 years ago / most land was unoccupied. People fail to realize 6 to 10,000 years ago on the low end there may have been a million people on earth and on the high end 5 million people, so the US statistics say other statistics counts less people. Again misunderstanding what the whole world means. And could it rain enough and Waters be let out from inside the Earth to floor the Earth to cover mountains in certain areas yes indeed there can it has been discovered there is more water in the Earth's mantle than it is in the oceans.

Every species in the area of the floods and if you read ancient history of American Indians, Aboriginal people, China, parts of Africa they all tell of an angry God who sent a flood and saved a few. Translators translated it as they thought it meant. Biology, genetics, waste, impossible, for men probably but not for God, The entity that created all things nothing is impossible. Just like a scientist who creates anything knows the workings of that thing.

Making the Sun and Moon stand still, to those who consider themselves learn today that would mean that the Earth would have to stop its rotation. It doesn't say anywhere in the Bible that the Earth stop rotating!!!! But it said that the sun continued to shine for a whole day / they call that daylight saving times in the US. The moon was visible late and the sun stayed out late.

It can not be proven that at some point humans didn't live to be hundreds of years old. All science can go on is the fossils that they find and they're determination of the lifespan of those fossils. And considering the purity of plants and before the flood, humans were vegetarians, lifespan would have been much much longer then those of 115 /120 years of today. Before they found the first fossil of dinosaurs it couldn't be proven they existed and they are still finding new species of them. Human bones are much smaller and will disintegrate back into the Earth much faster. Because science haven't found fossils of long lived humans yet doesn't mean they didn't exist.

Funny how people can say the serpent spoke well the serpent wasn't actually a snake the serpent was actually a fallen angel that some call Lucifer some called the devil some call Satan. He is referred to as a serpent, as a snake, as a dragon, among other names. Parrots can talk some barely well. And there are other animals that can mimic human vocabulary, but people ignore that.

Never seen pi equals to three in the Bible. But scripture tells us being seen or not made of things which appear. Whatever it is man has determined whether it's pi, anything in astrophysics, chemicals, God established it all and gave me a tiny bit of knowledge to decipher what he established for this Earth.

God said let there be light and the Big bang singularity occurred and a boost of microwave radiation light lit up the entire universe within seconds of the singularity. That the naked eye cannot see but remnants is still visible through the right equipment. And not meaning the light which the human eye can see which came about millions of years after the singularity.

And I know you're not going to even contemplate on anything I've written and that is your choice, see I wrote it for others to read.
@GodSpeed63 A perfect book that is beyond criticism cannot be misunderstood. If it can, then it is not perfect, nor is it beyond criticism.

Sorry but your bible (and its other mythical analogues) is irrelevant and the world would be a much better and saner place without it.
@Charity How convenient! It is the literal word of "god", but isn't.

The fact you have to go through so many contortions to make sense of nonsense makes my case.
Charity · 61-69
@Adeptlinguist

Actually it doesn't make your case, but you wouldn't admit it.

Actually everything I wrote is TRUTH.

""And I see it's all right for you to go through so many contortions"" which I replied to each of your contortions, and you try to use that against me, hummmmm.

It is your right, to keep believing as you do.
