Is There a Good Argument Against the Bible?

No.

Have you ever heard a good argument against the truth of God’s Word? Now, there are some arguments that are harder to answer than others (though most, I find, are just based on a misunderstanding of what the Bible teaches), but are there any that are actually good arguments?

Well, no, actually, there aren’t! And why not? Because to argue against the Bible, you have to borrow from the Bible in the first place. In other words, just to make your argument against the truth of God’s Word, you are assuming the truth of the Bible.

How does this work? Well, imagine an atheist tells you (as I’ve had them tell me) that they won’t believe the Bible because God is supposedly a genocidal, self-obsessed maniac. This argument assumes being genocidal and self-obsessed (neither of which is true about God, by the way) are both wrong. But why?

In the atheistic worldview, there is no such thing as right or wrong, good or evil. Morality is completely subjective. But this atheist is assuming there are moral absolutes . . . which come from the Bible and the eternal Creator God! So to make his argument, he’s assuming as true what he claims to believe is false.

At our Answers Homeschool Experience at the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum this past spring, Dr. Jason Lisle of the Biblical Science Institute presented on why there are zero rational arguments against the truth of Scripture. It’s a wonderful presentation on presuppositional apologetics, and I encourage you to share it, particularly with teens and young people. You can watch it in full here or on our YouTube channel.

It's really sad when secular scientists can't admit that their judgements in science are wrong being so adamant on being right. The come to the conclusion that science will never discredit the Word of God for fear of being ridiculed for believing the Truth rather than the lie.

The Bible warns of skeptics and non-believers, even warns that Christians will fall away.

The Bible says the ruler of this world is blinded the eyes of them that they believe is not, it is as it is, choices are made.

When the whole world see him coming from the clouds with his angels they will be screaming alien invasion because they don't know who he is. And with the invention of the television, telephone / cell phone, then the computer and internet the whole world will see him, except those in extremely remote places without such technology which is very few.
@Charity So what? The bible says many things that are either manifestly untrue, or just plain evil.

@Charity My post is factual. Yours is not. Frankly, you should be ashamed of spreading such nonsense when the world has real problems to solve.

Where's that written?
@GodSpeed63 What do you mean? Untrue and evil things are everywhere in the bible.

@Adeptlinguist

Every problem that exists in the world man brought upon themself and man was warned of doing so written in Scripture.

Spreading what nonsense, apparently you don't know what's going on in the real world.

Factual to you and those who believe like you, and without evidence as you tell Christians.

What do you mean?

You don't know then? How do you determine what is good and what is evil. Do you know what evil is and what good is?

Do you know what evil is and what good is?
Simple. Good, is the side that’s winning, evil is the excuse for killing to get what they’re after.
You make things far more complicated than they need to be.
@GodSpeed63 My question was to you about your bizarrely-worded post. "Where is it written?" was what I was referring to.

As to knowing what good and evil are, I certainly don't need a nasty and archaic book to tell me.

For example, I know that the following are evil, despite what that ridiculous "perfect" book says:

The Command to Destroy the Canaanites (Deuteronomy 7:1-2): Upon entering the promised land, the Israelites are given a clear command regarding the seven nations residing there: "you must destroy them totally. Make no treaty with them and show them no mercy."

The War Against the Amalekites (1 Samuel 15:3): The prophet Samuel delivers a command from God to King Saul: "Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy all that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys."

Slaves as Property (Exodus 21:20-21): This law addresses a master beating his slave. It states that if the slave dies immediately, the master should be punished. However, "if the slave survives a day or two, he is not to be punished, for the slave is his property." (Some translations use "money" instead of "property".)

Hereditary, Lifelong Slavery (Leviticus 25:44-46): These verses instruct the Israelites that they can buy slaves from surrounding nations. It explicitly states: "You can bequeath them to your children as inherited property and can make them slaves for life, but you must not rule over your fellow Israelites ruthlessly."

Forcing a Rape Victim to Marry Her Attacker (Deuteronomy 22:28-29): This law states that if a man rapes an unbetrothed virgin, he must pay her father fifty shekels of silver and then marry her. He is never permitted to divorce her.

The Ordeal of the Bitter Water (Numbers 5:11-31): This describes a ritual for a husband who suspects his wife of adultery but has no proof. The woman is forced to drink a concoction of holy water and dust. If she is guilty, the text says a curse will cause her "womb to swell and her thigh to rot." If innocent, she is unharmed.

Death for Disrespecting Parents (Leviticus 20:9): "Anyone who curses their father or mother is to be put to death."

Death for Working on the Sabbath (Exodus 35:2): "For six days, work is to be done, but the seventh day shall be your holy day, a day of sabbath rest to the LORD. Whoever does any work on it is to be put to death."

Death for Adultery and Homosexual Acts (Leviticus 20:10-13): Both adultery and male homosexual acts are listed as capital offenses.

So yes, I know what is good and what is evil. "God" apparently does not.

Looks like you need the Word of God and not some nasty and archaic book.

The Command to Destroy the Canaanites (Deuteronomy 7:1-2):

Do you know what they were doing? Read up on them.

The War Against the Amalekites (1 Samuel 15:3):

Read what the Amalekites were doing.

Stop cherry picking and stick to the Truth for a change.

@GodSpeed63 So you’re fine with the stuff about slavery and rape.

And you dare to suggest I don’t know good from evil.

And you dare to suggest I don’t know good from evil.

Yes I dare because you don't know good from evil nor do you know where they originated from.
@GodSpeed63 Yet you support slavery and the mistreatment of rape victims. Got it.

You just proved my point. Thank you.
