Do you think Creationism should be taught in school? If so, why? [Spirituality & Religion]

And of course i mean taught in the same way evolution is taught, not as a lesson in comparative religion.

I have mixed feelings about that. I did like teaching my sons myself.

Discussions evolve.
If you don't feel like explaining it, i understand

Thank you for understanding.

everything should be explained to kids. but it just seems all one sided these days.. teachers just push their own political ideals onto kids
why not..
can understand religious school not teaching evolution. but public schools should remain centered and offer info to both sides.

I feel like you didn't really absorb my last post.
Evolution and creations ARE NOT on equal scientific footing.
It is important to be fair but that is NOT the same as presenting two ideas as equal when they are not.

Unless you think we should offer a centered presentation of the idea that aliens seeded life on earth vs evolution.

You follow? A balanced approach is for subjects that ARE balanced.

It's the same reason we don't teach homeopathy to med students on equal footing with real medical procedures

I think students should be made aware of all that is thought about a subject, and for them to make up their own minds as to what is true and what is not. No more official stories, only versions presented to the precious lil kiddies:)

@TraumenDenkener:

You think that there should be nothing that we teach as something that is known?
What is the point of teaching at all then?

If we start teaching people that the "truth" is what they feel is correct then we're not really teaching anything useful.

@UnparalleledMonster: What is known is continuing to be known, and when that is taught as fact, it is dead. Knowing is so much more than things that are seen today as fact but tomorrow is blown apart by discovery.
MetalGreymon · 36-40, M
@TraumenDenkener:

Well yes, but until what we know is shown to be false we must believe that what we know is true.
Currently the evidence suggests one thing to science. Until the evidence suggests something else we will not discard what we know.

I agree.
GlobalLia · 22-25, F
Of course it should be taught as the absolute truth. Because it is the absolute truth. 🎣🎣

No, not outside of a religion class. If you're religious, stop being lazy and learn about that in Sunday school at your church, where you should be if you're a believer.
MartinTheFirst · 22-25, M
They should be taught. However, it's quite annoying how evolution is being taught as if it was fact. I'm a christian and I do not appreciate that.

@MartinTheFirst:

Oh come on marty, don't flee the conversation just because it's getting tough.
And certainly don't make excuses that are just insults to my character and education.

I am open to rational argument. So far you have said that science is not very firm on evolution (which is objectively false, as per the stats i gave you) and that you KNOW that your religion is true because of the bible.

Tell you what, let'signore the other stuff and just concentrate on how you know your religion is true.
I am very curious about that.
Are you able to elaborate on what you mean by "I know, because I know that my religion is true based on what I've read." ?
MetalGreymon · 36-40, M
@MartinTheFirst:

It sort of seems like i suddenly became too close minded and ignorant when i challenged you on your knowledge of the veracity of your religion...
MetalGreymon · 36-40, M
@MartinTheFirst:

lol oh well. Catch ya next time, marty.
