God is not a "who"? It is not a person.

You need to ask, "What do you think God is?"

In the old days all of the big wigs were gods. The Roman emperor Hadrian made his boyfriend a god with his own temples and rituals.

The most recent god was the Japanese emperor, who got demoted as a result of WWII.

The misconception given to the US military by anthropologists and scholars was the Japanese people believed the Emperor was divine, due to his descent from the the goddess of heaven. Problem is, that wasn't true, no one in Japan thought that. Americans see what they are told to see.

Japan is not a democracy, as perceived by the US. The Japanese have an imperialistic culture similar to that of China. Even though the Diet is formed through elections, it defers to the Emperor. Despite getting put through the wringer by Mao to rid them of cultural superstitions, Xi Jinping is still regarded as "Son of Heaven". It is the title for Jesus in the Chinese Christian Bible.

In Chinese philosophy, there is no separation between divinity and man. Jesus is regarded as the perfect man (or human) incorruptible by evil tendencies (sins). Confucius teaching is all about the attainment of perfection, a goal for everyone; especially, the one who aspires to rule over others to bring about a harmonious society.

The western mindset is a matter of perception.
