Judgement is tiring
Thinking about what to do with them still. The ones that rebelled against me. I was going into my old attitude of being hurt and angry and not wanting anything to do with them. But the human spirit, my other self, she reminded me they were all addicts. She had brought this up to me before because she is a psych professional and recognizes addiction when she sees it. And she said if we wanted to be able to have a chance at helping them, we'd have to treat their addiction.
So then I started feeling all happy and like I could save everybody. But she pointed out another thing to me-addiction is a tricky problem. In order for you to be able to overcome it, the first step is deciding you want to overcome it. She told me if a person does not choose to try to fight and overcome their addiction, then it did not matter even if you were able to cut off their supply. And I realized what she was telling me.
We need to figure out who of those that are left would genuinely like to change and treat their addiction and get better, and who has no interest in getting better and likes things just as they are.
That is....easier said than done.
