An insightful quote

@Axeroberts
I don't believe in the bible literally
If we are united followers of God, then we must accept His Word. (Matthew 28:18).

Then you can't say you are a follower of God, because you don't believe in His Word or what it says. We either believe all of it, or not at all. God and His Word are inseparable.

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word WAS God." John 1:1

The term "in the beginning was the Word", is a statement of equality. Jesus is not just the Word, He is the Creator, equal with God.

The New Testament writers confirm the Old Testament's claim to be the very Word of God. Repeatedly, the New Testament refers to Old Testament texts, its laws, its claims, and its stories as the actual Word of God. Indeed, the entire New Testament is openly built upon the Old Testament.

Several New Testament texts are explicit in claiming inspiration for the Old Testament. Paul says of the Old Testament: “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work” (2 Tim. 3:16-17). At the beginning of his second letter, the apostle Peter reminds us: “And we have something more sure, the prophetic word, to which you will do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. ” (2 Pet. 1:19-20).

@LadyGrace if you know anything about science you would know not to take the bible literally. It's spiritual illustrations
@Axeroberts Science only confirms the Bible, but nothing about science did I mention here.

@Axeroberts Christ does not want anyone to perish, but wants everyone to come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9).

He placed such a high value on the human soul that He personally gladly exchanged the perfection of heaven for a life of poverty, suffering, shame, and death to seek and to save what was lost (Luke 19:10).

One of the best ways to set our mind on the things above is to cherish God’s Word. We cannot expect to have peace, joy, and a Christ-centered perspective if we only consume the material of this world. If someone you love sent you a letter, would you toss it on the shelf and fail to open it? Of course not! If we love Christ, we will dedicate ourselves to reading His words to us. The Bible is an essential part of spiritual growth and helps us to set our affections on the things above.

Jesus Christ, being the living Word (John 1:1-2, 14), the full revelation of God in the Bible (Hebrews 1:1-2), says; "Search the scriptures; for in them ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of Me. For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed Me: for he wrote of Me. But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words? "(John 5:39, 46-47). Again when a certain lawyer asked Jesus what he would do to enter eternal life, He referred him to the scriptures (Luke 10:25-26).
@Axeroberts God and science are compatible. God created ALL THINGS and the Bible confirms it. Jesus is God. Similar to the opening passages of Genesis and the Gospel of John, 1 John starts with a clear connection between Jesus and God the Father as the beginning of all things. Another scripture points out that Jesus and His Father are ONE and the same.

[c=BF0000]John 10: 30 ”The Father and I are one.” John 14:8-11 “'Philip,' Jesus replied, 'after I have been with you all this time, you still do not know me? Whoever has seen Me, has seen the Father.[/c]

[c=BF0000]Genesis 1:1 - In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.[/c]
@Axeroberts Science doesn't have the processes to prove or disprove the existence of God. Science, studies and attempts to explain only the natural world, while God, is supernatural.

@LadyGrace exactly. But I believe God is in the natural world which He created. God does not break the laws of nature.
@Axeroberts Right. God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit created it all. You say no one can know God, but that's why Jesus came in the flesh, from heaven, to tell us exactly how to be saved and all about God, and He said in His Word, there will be no excuse for saying we didn't know how to be saved or about who He and His Father are. To say we can't know, is irresponsible and ignoring the Word of God. Jesus is God. He didn't leave us to guess. - 1 John starts with a clear connection between Jesus and God the Father as the beginning and Creator of all things. Another scripture points out that Jesus and His Father are ONE and the same.
