People Wear It But Do They Understand It's Message?

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
1 Corinthians 1:18

Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. John 15:13

Who's "us"? You speaking for everyone now?
JollyRoger · 70-79, M
@Graylight No.... he is only speaking to the people who are working to be 'saved'.... which simply means that they are living their life with purpose and with the belief that by doing 'good' they will be welcomed when the Judgement does occur (long after they die - or, perhaps not so long).

@JollyRoger See now, that doesn't compute. The world of my God has no hoops through which to jump.

@Graylight That's OK.... neither does my God. I just follow along and He leads me in the right direction - That's called 'Trust'. Who's your god and what do you have to do for him?
Graylight · 51-55, F
@JollyRoger Must believe. Must give soul and heart. Must follow commandments. Must behave as Jesus. Must be heartfully sorry for sin. Must be pure before God. Must follow church's doctrine. Must fall in line with mass beliefs. I could go on.

@Graylight Oh... that stuff! Yes, some people do do that sort of thing - live in guilt all the time. But that's the 'Church' and the old laws of the Old Testament of the Bible. Those are just 'people' trying to control others. Christ did not teach those things..... read about Jesus' preaching and you'll see that the 'Nay' ' That's Sin' and 'Don't do that' stuff isn't there.... instead He makes suggestions as to how people might behave - never putting them in a corner or on the defensive.

@JollyRoger The Bible is your source test. You buy it in part, you buy it in parcel. It's not a "pick and choose" kind of thing, God's word.

@Graylight Yes, but: Christ came to change the covenant and He did: He kept the 10 Commandments but he was telling the church to back off on all the Leviticus stuff.

@JollyRoger Says who? Prove to me Jesus said anything, first. Then let me into the details of a conversation he was having 2,000 years ago.
