They tried to force him into the SS. By force I mean pointing loaded pistols at his head and ordering to become a member of the SS. He was 16 remember. He thought he said his last words and that his mother would never know what happened to him when at gun point he said '"I can not join the SS for I am a Christian. you do need son history lessons. you just keep looking more foolish all the time.

@Khonsu Don't have to. I knew the man. His name was Jake Penner. He was taken prisoner of war by the Canadians when his position was over run. After the war he applied to move to Canada where he became a psychiatric nurse. A very humble man and only related that story when his wife Marie asked him to tell us about it. She too grew up in Nazi Germany and as a Christian she said how she had to be very careful about what she said and to whom she said it. Sadly children like you with no life experience believe anything your highschool teacher tells you. Sadly your teacher is no more informed than you are but he/she is just as misinformed as you are. You see son I knew people who fought in WWII on both sides. You think it is a passing curiosity. It was not. My uncle helped liberate Bergen Belsen. He could not believe the inhumanity to man that he witnessed there. He would get this haunted look in his eyes when he talked about the stench of death and dysentry. He described the walking skeletons that once were humans and how they clung to him as he gave them the rations he had on his person. But you carry on with your delusions. Next time try harder.
