Excuses excuses and excuse

Most of us can agree that r*pe and slavery are egregious and abhorrent things, so why do christians make every excuse for laws where such things are permitted (ie Deuteronomy 21:10-14 and Leviticus 25: 44-46) they will make any and every excuse for these verses and not see how psychotic their arguments are.

not all Christians are bible thumpers
Khonsu · 26-30, M
@Penny you don’t have to be a Bible thumper to be like that.
Penny · 46-50, F
@Khonsu maybe it would help if you posted the verses you are talking about
Khonsu · 26-30, M
@Penny I gave the exact verses if y’all can’t bother to look em up that’s on y’all.
Penny · 46-50, F
@Khonsu well apparently they are old testament so theyre not even a real christian thing. so dont go criticizing christians when you dont know what you are talking about lol. not that im any expert or anything but still.
Khonsu · 26-30, M
@Penny 1)Actually it very much is a Christian thing. Evangelicals hold Old Testament law as the a gold standard if you have ever gone to Sunday school this is literally what they teach to all ages so your entire argument is false.
2) I can literally give you example after example of the very thing I’m talking about

@Penny right - you definitely aren't an expert

@Penny tell me, as a woman do you not find Deuteronomy 21:10-14 messed up? That a “god” that Christians characterized as all loving can make a law that someone can kidnap a woman after most likely killing her family and force her into marriage?
Penny · 46-50, F
@Khonsu i dont believe in that shit. its all up to translation anyway. im not sure what the passages are though
Khonsu · 26-30, M
@Penny “I’m not sure what the passages are though” but want to argue. Girl bye
Penny · 46-50, F
@Khonsu dont say "christians" rather u r talking about adherents of teh old testament
Khonsu · 26-30, M
@Penny Nope. As someone who was Christian who went to christian churches who lives in a Christian nationalist town I can tell you they are in fact Christians.
Penny · 46-50, F
@Khonsu me rolls my eyes. so what laws allow rape and slavery then?
Khonsu · 26-30, M
@Penny The ones I told you about.

@Emosaur christianity is a christ based religion not necessarily a book based religion. jesus, not the bible. though the bible holds the account of jesus it was written by many people and cobbled together by people that werent jesus. some people look at it as if every word is the word of God and some dont. you cant say its a book based religion. its a belief based religion and some people do place their belief in the bible but still i was told modern christianity is based on teh new testament only not the old testament anyways.

@Emosaur most of what i learned about christianity was from other christians, not from the bible. though their knowledge may have originated from the bible i have to repeat jesus' account is like found in the bible, its not the whole of the bible. and besides ,most a lot of christians beliefs come from personal relationship with jesus, finding jesus or being found, not from the bible. they may turn to the bible looking for answers but only some are "bible thumpers" meaning book based christians
