There's either nothing or heaven and hell for sure exists. If heaven and hell exist I obviously really hope to go to heaven especially after seeing the movie Ghost. If there's nothing it won't even matter because once you die, that's it you won't even know. One of those two things is a reality though guaranteed.
@CaliProtonymous God did not leave us to guess on this. He gave us His Word, so we would know how to have eternity in heaven with him. 1st John 5:13. "I write these things to you, who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life."

Since there is a heaven and eternal life, it is important to prepare for both. We do that by acknowledging that we do have sin in our lives and that we need Jesus to forgive us of our sins so he can blot them out, and he remembers them no more. When we accept Jesus into our heart and lives as our Savior, he promises to forgive us of our sins and give us eternal life. If we leave it to chance, that won't work because we shall stay separated from Christ and God in heaven, because of our sins that were not forgiven.

@LadyGrace In the most non-offensive way that I can possibly say this, that all seems like a lot of stereotypical church goer preachy goodness right there, that's fine, but I believe that if you do believe in God and I like to think that I do, there has to be a sense of practicality in your relationship with him in correspondence to life. Part of the reason I don't go to church these days is because churches have become these monetized mega-church like 'get followers and likes and view' types of places and less so about an actual relationship with God. I have no idea what's what because I'm this tiny little spec of a human in a very very large universe. I've never been too much of a fan of all of the sayings and mottos and quotes and things that I can't understand in comparison to what I feel from and with God when I turn my attention to him.
@CaliProtonymous What you call stereotypical churchgoer preachy goodness, comes directly and sincerely from scripture in the Word of God. So if you want to make fun, I wouldn't make fun of God's Word. It tells us exactly God's standard for salvation so it is not arrogant to reiterate what God said in His Word. We either believe God or we don't.

I agree that there are a lot of phony churches out there, especially in these last days, and even people that claim to be Christians, but are not. But we can't put them all in the same boat and we can't pick on Believers, particularly when there are many denominations out there, that do not even follow the Word of God, and make up their own system for salvation. Man does not get to do that. God set the standard for salvation, not man. No matter what others do in this world, the Bible says we are responsible for our own souls. We could use the excuse that we don't do this and we don't do that, because there's too many hypocrites, but God said don't worry about them, just worry about yourself, because you are accountable only for yourself.
