Heavenlywarrior that is correct, and not only our roadmap for success in life, but for salvation which is the most important.
Let me share with you, how I feel about that word
believe, in pointing out that even demons believe in God, yet they're not going to heaven. Satan believes in God and he trembles at the name of Jesus, yet won't repent. So it takes more than just believing. We must act on that belief, and by our convictions and faith, follow up by inviting Jesus to come into our hearts and lives to be our Savior...asking him to forgive us of of our sins, so they no longer separate us from God the Father in heaven, and commit to living our lives for him. That really shows him we are not just going through the motions but that we love him and appreciate him and are grateful to him so much, that we are willing to follow through with committing our lives to him. We are not just giving him half our heart, but full love and commitment and trust in him.
God doesn't just want lip service but no commitment. That is not love. Anybody can say they love the Lord but how do they live their lives from day to day? Do they go to church on Sunday and then live like the devil, the rest of the week? Do they only pick up their Bible to learn and grow in the spirit, maybe once a week or once a month, according to how they feel, or are they really committed and interested in growing more in God by reading his word? Do our words and actions reflect Christ or do we use the language of the devil from day to day? Do we put Christ first in our life and let him lead in all decisions, guiding us for the best outcome, in prayer? Have we cheated somebody out of money in the last year? Are we conscientious that we represent Christ and we should live our lives accordingly? There are many things to consider when we claim to be a Christian. It's not a game. Some won't make heaven. Have we stolen from anyone or went out of our way to get revenge and hurt someone? How many lies have we told in the past few days or weeks? Do we go to church on Sunday and then gossip about people the rest of the week? I wonder how many people call themselves followers of Christ yet commit adultery or fornication and not think anything about it. Even how we treat our partners speaks of our character as believers. All these things we must think about.
