Sometimes God doesn't give you exactly what you prayed for. He gives you what you need. I prayed for God to understand why I had to always smoke pot and why I had to take my life. Guess what he took away my depression something I never knew could leave me after more than a decade of living with it.

@SW-User What happens when we're raptured? I thought scripture says we'll be changed and caught up together with Christ in the clouds. Nobody would witness that except those who'll be raptured. To the world we'd have disappeared because they wouldn't have seen us go.

@karysma My view is that people cling to religion because they're too emotionally weak to accept that their perished love ones are gone and that they're never going to see them again, religion sold them on happy lies so the bitter truth of reality is one that they shelter themselves from realizing. religion is a mere place to hide from reality and comfort blanket for them for me I found just rejecting the idea of sins existence liberating. your religion from this vantage point is nothing more than an instrument of social control.

@BetweenKittensandRiots I know I didn't imagine depression leave me. I was depressed for more than a decade dear. I prayed and I woke up one day and it was all gone. The desire to smoke pot went with it. Are you saying I imagined all that?

@karysma I'm saying that the brain is a mysterious organ that is adept at head tripping itself and that might be your perception of what transpired but that doesn't necessarily mean the conclusion is correct?

through the use of dream journals and writing down my own dreams and reality checks I was able to get lucid dreams and I've experienced the same things myself woken up in a state of sleep paralysis literally met the dweller on the threshold only by the modern era it's not literally sitting on you it's a bunch of aliens outside trying to abduct and unlike most of the people in the spiritual community all it did was convince me that you could experience shit like that and it would still just be that the brain is remarakble in it's ability to headtrip itself.

I do not trust people's experience, things need to be replicable and repeatable and demonstratable in experiments. Eye witness testimony is absolutely worthless in terms of strength of evidence.

@SW-User That's talking about the second coming. There's the rapture then the second coming and both events are 7 years apart in timeframe. After the rapture God will be shifting his focus from the gentiles and back on Israel.

We invented scientific instruments because human perception was so fucking fatally flawed we needed a way to measure things despite the errors in perception we experience.

I don't trust human perception, if it was trust worthy we wouldn't NEED computers and microscopes and tons of other devices. FMRIs, MRIS, CAMERAS, etc.

If there's one thing science DID teach me its that we only see A FRACTION of what's actually out there and that we perceive a lot that ISN'T actually "out there"
