I'm trying to overcome 'lust' and the mentally pain is unbearable trying to overcome it

I'm just wondering overcoming lust is there no such thing . Or can it be achieved? I can do it for a week or 2 but the pain gets unbearable and I'm just wondering or my putting myself all through this pain for nothing or is it achievable.
Well what I do know it's very hard . I like woman a lot (I'm single a long time) but the lust can be still in my mind .
I don't know if it is achievable .
What's your view on it ?
Or are my trying to attain something that's unreachable ?

@iamonfire696 I'm trying to find the truth but it's very painful . See after when your numb for so long and the numbness starts easing off , the loneliness kicks into the soul and it's very difficult to deal with.
I always said until I'm right I'd ask a woman out but how do you know what right is
