I'm trying to overcome 'lust' and the mentally pain is unbearable trying to overcome it

I'm just wondering overcoming lust is there no such thing . Or can it be achieved? I can do it for a week or 2 but the pain gets unbearable and I'm just wondering or my putting myself all through this pain for nothing or is it achievable.
Well what I do know it's very hard . I like woman a lot (I'm single a long time) but the lust can be still in my mind .
I don't know if it is achievable .
What's your view on it ?
Or are my trying to attain something that's unreachable ?

@Carazaa I know when your with someone it's a bonus.
When your single it's a different ball game completely especially with mental pain . The one thing I like being on my own is that I'm more secure in myself .
The one thing I don't like being on ny own is lustful thinking .

@riseofthemachine True! Keep busy maybe then if you want to be single. Some think sleeping around is the thing but that can create more heartaches, I suggest develop more friendships and if you fall in love then a committed relationship is more satisfying to most people.
