Is Jeremiah 26:3 inconsistent with the idea of an all-knowing God? [Spirituality & Religion]
Perhaps they will listen and each will turn from their evil ways. Then I will relent and not inflict on them the disaster I was planning because of the evil they have done.
Does God not know if the people will turn from their evil ways?
If he does know then why suggest the conditional reaction on his part to a potential action by the people?

Giving the people a chance to repent just like He's today before the time is up.
@GodSpeed63

Does he know whether they will repent or not?

He knows either way.
@GodSpeed63

So does he know whether they will repent or not before hand?

Sure He does.
@GodSpeed63

So then why is he saying perhaps they will turn from their evil ways?
Perhaps indicates a lack of certainty toward an outcome.

He gave them free will and perhaps doesn't mean God is uncertain for He knows all.
@GodSpeed63

Free will means that they will choose whether or not to turn from their evil ways but free will does not explain the use of language by god that denotes uncertainty.

God is certain of everything we do whether we turn to the left or to the right. Uncertainty doesn't enter into His thinking. If He decides to use the word, 'perhaps' who are we to tell Him that He can't?
@GodSpeed63

So you agree that it's a bit of a weird thing for an all knowing god to say.
