Leviticus 20:27 “Men and women among you who act as mediums or who consult the spirits of the dead must be put to death by stoning. They are guilty of a capital offense.”

@JohnRing So much for "thou shall not kill."
GerOttman · 61-69, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Pretty sure thou shalt not kill is a mistranslation of thou shalt not commit murder.
PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
@GerOttman Lol. "it's a mistranslation so I don't have to do it." is the number one excuse for cherry picking.
PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
@GerOttman And another fun fact "I killed him because my book says so" is still murder.
GerOttman · 61-69, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow well you seem pretty sure of your narrative, so whatever you say must the gospel of the day. all hail you and your infinite wisdom!

@GerOttman Nice projection. I am not the one making the argument that they have all the answers because their book says so and it is right because their holy book says so.
Carazaa · F
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow It does not say that. You don't know your Bible. It says "you shall not murder". Killing is permitted in war!
PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
@Carazaa Lol, now we are reinventing the defintion of war to justify contradictions and murder for wrong think.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@Sharon And if it's any comfort to Carazza, atheists are hardly likely to believe in the whisperings and mutterings of "mediums and spiritists"; even though such people are still allowed to whisper and mutter in countries that equally comfortingly for her, you and I alike, allows religious freedom. The freedom itself being a concept those Levites obviously could not have prophesied, but would presumably despise.

(Actually the third quote in her random Thought For The Day may explain the first two, suggesting the Hebrew priests were no better than petty theocrats enforcing their own religion over existing ones that possibly included ancestor-worship. Ironically theirs was itself based largely on older faiths, particularly the dual-deity Zoroastrianism, which survives, but now in a very low-key way.)
