It is time to stop arguing, and start preparing. What excuse could possibly be good enough to keep you from heaven? [Spirituality & Religion]

It saddens me when people turn from the Lord, because of misunderstandings. One just can't go wrong following the Lord, but of course, that's up to each of us, but there are certain things we need to understand.

I say this lovingly. I wish everyone understood that there is no comparison between our knowledge and the great, infinite knowledge of God. We can't possibly begin to figure Him out, let alone, judge Him.

God is perfect. And though many get mad at Him and judge him wrongly, thinking they know better than God, He cannot err. He cannot sin. Though we don't understand everything about Him, we certainly don't have the authority to judge or blame Him, when He is incapable of lying or error.

If we want God to be fair to us, we must be fair to Him and not judge the One who loves us and created us. Since He is sinless, he is just in everything he does, in spite of our doubts. As our Creator, he deserves to be praised, because in spite of our rebellion...and we can see that throughout history, our continued sinful nature...He still gave His very life to save us from the condemnation SIN brings on us. Though He was beaten and whipped to an unrecognizable pulp, what did He say to His Father in heaven as he hung suspended between heaven and earth? Father, FORGIVE THEM...for they know not what they DO!" He forgave and still loves us in spite of our sins, even his enemies who nailed Him to that cross. Does this sound like a man who is out to destroy you or cause you harm? No. It speaks of His everlasting, deepest love for us. He didn't HAVE to do that for us. But He DID. In fact, He volunteered. Please tell me who else would go through all that suffering for you, just to see that you wouldn't miss heaven? Nobody. We should be infinitely grateful to Him. No OTHER gods stepped up to do this! Jesus didn't just say He loves us...He proved it.

Instead of everyone arguing about details here, each of us should be preparing to make sure we don't miss heaven, because no matter how long we all argue, His plans are not going to change, so we need to be busy preparing, because this is not a "maybe". It's a given that the Lord is about to come back, and though we don't know exactly WHEN, that's all the MORE reason to prepare. He could come tonight and what if He did? Would you be ready? A wise man prepares for the future, and what we say here will mean nothing. "What shall it profit a man if he gains the world, but loses his own soul?" Prophecy always comes true. Every biblical prophecy TO DATE has come true. I've got the list if you want to see them. This should tell us that all future prophecies shall come true. We should all be getting ready to meet our Maker. There's no excuse that any should miss heaven, except for their own bull-headedness and stubbornness.

There are things we just don't know and that's OK, because God helped us know the most important thing...how to have eternal life in heaven.

God didn't destroy this world. Sin did. Sin always brings death and is THE ONLY THING which keeps us SEPARATED FROM GOD. So common sense tells us, we need to have our sins forgiven, and Jesus is our ticket to heaven. We'd be foolish to refuse a free ticket to heaven through the forgiveness of our sins. If Jesus hadn't come down from heaven and paid for our sins on the cross, we'd have ALL ended up in hell, because as it stands, our sins automatically separate us from God the Father. So...we need to come to our only Mediator between God and man...Jesus...and have our sins forgiven. What's so hard about receiving the free gift of salvation? Jesus did all the work, and it is HE that does all the saving, not man. There's no such thing as earning your way to heaven. Grace means UN-earned favor from God. That means God already loves and accepts you, so you can come to Jesus, just as you are. He turns no one away.

If I'm not to judge him, I'm not to make assumptions about him.
@FCNantes Right! He reveals Himself in His Word. He cannot lie, as He is perfect, so we can rely on His Word as Truth. He gave us His Word, so we wouldn't have to guess how to have eternal life in heaven.

@LadyGrace The only problem's that he never told me. & I know that humans can lie.
@FCNantes He told the world, and resurrected before 500 people. All we have to do is pick up His Word and read it, if we wish to know Him. Or pray to Him. It's a choice. The bible says to seek Him and you shall find Him. Humans can most certainly lie, but God cannot, and that's why when any minister preaches, his words better come from God's Word and match it perfectly. If they don't, the bible says don't listen to him, as he would be a false teacher.

@LadyGrace Yes, so I can't know if it's God's word or not.
@FCNantes You can. You can see if His sermon matches up with what God said in His Word.

@LadyGrace Let me make this clear; unless God communicates with me directly, I've no grounds to be convinced that other people are telling the truth. You could be lying about God's word. Those who told you about God's word could be liars. & so on.
@FCNantes You don't understand. You don't set the standard. God does. If one truly wants to know Him, he'll be willing to follow the correct procedures.
FCNantes · 22-25, M
@LadyGrace Yes, but God hasn't communicated with me. It's true that I don't particularly want to.
@FCNantes Well, there's the rub. He said anyone who comes to Him, seeking salvation, He will in no wise, cast out. He wants to communicate with you, but you have mentioned you're not interested. He may be speaking to your heart right now, but if you ignore or refuse the invitation of the Holy Spirit calling you and speaking to your heart to be saved, God will honor your wishes.

@LadyGrace I'm just gonna keep trying my best, whether or not I'm deluded (it seems a bit harsh that people get punished for being deluded).
@FCNantes I truly wish it worked that way. We'd all have it made. However, Jesus said our place in heaven cannot be earned. Free gifts aren't earned, or we'd all be bragging we saved ourselves, but that's not possible. Our best can't meet God's perfect standard, so we must rely on Jesus to be our Mediator to our Father in heaven, and ask Him to forgive us of our sins, and then we can have eternal life with God. Leaving our Spirit's destination to chance, is the worst thing one could do, because our sins already seperate us from God. Here's what I mean:

Further, God didn't come to condemn anyone. Our sins are the only thing that condemns us, by keeping us separated from God. Jesus came to save the world from the condemnation of sin. He died on the cross to pay for our sins, that whosoever believes in Him, shall be eternally saved. But when we reject His gift of salvation, we reject eternal life in heaven.

@LadyGrace Isn't a sin a bad act? Obviously, I did some when I was a kid, & I may do some bad things unintentionally, but couldn't I just always try be good?
@FCNantes Not really. Somewhere down the line, we all mess up. That's God's whole point. We could never be perfect enough to earn heaven. If there was sin in heaven, it wouldn't be heaven and you can't earn your way to heaven. God said so. If we could have done that, then I'm sure Jesus would not have had to do all that suffering on the cross. It takes a pure, sinless sacrifice to atone for our sins. Jesus loves us so much, He volunteered to be that perfect sacrifice.
FCNantes · 22-25, M
@LadyGrace "Somewhere down the line, we all mess up."

I mess up by accident sometimes, but I never do something bad on purpose. I struggle to see why making an honest mistake should be seen as bad.
@FCNantes Sure. I understand. That would make sense, but you see, God doesn't look at sin the way humans do. It is clear we can't be perfect. God doesn't categorize sin. Sin is sin. One doesn't outshine the other, in God's eyes, because all sin ... no matter what that sin is...separates us from God.

@LadyGrace Isn't heaven for the good, or's it reserved for perfect beings? Or something else?
