It is time to stop arguing, and start preparing. What excuse could possibly be good enough to keep you from heaven? [Spirituality & Religion]

It saddens me when people turn from the Lord, because of misunderstandings. One just can't go wrong following the Lord, but of course, that's up to each of us, but there are certain things we need to understand.

I say this lovingly. I wish everyone understood that there is no comparison between our knowledge and the great, infinite knowledge of God. We can't possibly begin to figure Him out, let alone, judge Him.

God is perfect. And though many get mad at Him and judge him wrongly, thinking they know better than God, He cannot err. He cannot sin. Though we don't understand everything about Him, we certainly don't have the authority to judge or blame Him, when He is incapable of lying or error.

If we want God to be fair to us, we must be fair to Him and not judge the One who loves us and created us. Since He is sinless, he is just in everything he does, in spite of our doubts. As our Creator, he deserves to be praised, because in spite of our rebellion...and we can see that throughout history, our continued sinful nature...He still gave His very life to save us from the condemnation SIN brings on us. Though He was beaten and whipped to an unrecognizable pulp, what did He say to His Father in heaven as he hung suspended between heaven and earth? Father, FORGIVE THEM...for they know not what they DO!" He forgave and still loves us in spite of our sins, even his enemies who nailed Him to that cross. Does this sound like a man who is out to destroy you or cause you harm? No. It speaks of His everlasting, deepest love for us. He didn't HAVE to do that for us. But He DID. In fact, He volunteered. Please tell me who else would go through all that suffering for you, just to see that you wouldn't miss heaven? Nobody. We should be infinitely grateful to Him. No OTHER gods stepped up to do this! Jesus didn't just say He loves us...He proved it.

Instead of everyone arguing about details here, each of us should be preparing to make sure we don't miss heaven, because no matter how long we all argue, His plans are not going to change, so we need to be busy preparing, because this is not a "maybe". It's a given that the Lord is about to come back, and though we don't know exactly WHEN, that's all the MORE reason to prepare. He could come tonight and what if He did? Would you be ready? A wise man prepares for the future, and what we say here will mean nothing. "What shall it profit a man if he gains the world, but loses his own soul?" Prophecy always comes true. Every biblical prophecy TO DATE has come true. I've got the list if you want to see them. This should tell us that all future prophecies shall come true. We should all be getting ready to meet our Maker. There's no excuse that any should miss heaven, except for their own bull-headedness and stubbornness.

There are things we just don't know and that's OK, because God helped us know the most important thing...how to have eternal life in heaven.

God didn't destroy this world. Sin did. Sin always brings death and is THE ONLY THING which keeps us SEPARATED FROM GOD. So common sense tells us, we need to have our sins forgiven, and Jesus is our ticket to heaven. We'd be foolish to refuse a free ticket to heaven through the forgiveness of our sins. If Jesus hadn't come down from heaven and paid for our sins on the cross, we'd have ALL ended up in hell, because as it stands, our sins automatically separate us from God the Father. So...we need to come to our only Mediator between God and man...Jesus...and have our sins forgiven. What's so hard about receiving the free gift of salvation? Jesus did all the work, and it is HE that does all the saving, not man. There's no such thing as earning your way to heaven. Grace means UN-earned favor from God. That means God already loves and accepts you, so you can come to Jesus, just as you are. He turns no one away.

If I'm not to judge him, I'm not to make assumptions about him.

@LadyGrace "Somewhere down the line, we all mess up."

I mess up by accident sometimes, but I never do something bad on purpose. I struggle to see why making an honest mistake should be seen as bad.

@FCNantes Sure. I understand. That would make sense, but you see, God doesn't look at sin the way humans do. It is clear we can't be perfect. God doesn't categorize sin. Sin is sin. One doesn't outshine the other, in God's eyes, because all sin ... no matter what that sin is...separates us from God.

@LadyGrace Isn't heaven for the good, or's it reserved for perfect beings? Or something else?

God gave me bad teeth, so much pain and expense. Im unforgiving bout this.
Either he be a shit engineer or a sadist. Neither is my type of person.

@LadyGrace If he dictates everything, then no people have free choice. In which case there's no reasonable justification to punish anyone.
LadyGrace · 70-79
@FCNantes He made and gave the Angel's and mankind, free choice. Let me ask you something. If you had a girlfriend and you wanted nothing more to marry her, yet she wasn't on the same page as you in wanting to marry you and refused, would you force her to marry you, against her wishes? Of course not, but that doesnt mean you wouldn't still love her. You'd be sad, but you wouldn't force her, because love doesn't do that. You would definitely want someone who came freely to you, when it comes to marriage. In that way, her coming freely to you, shows you that she truly loves you. God is no different. He did not want robots as companions, with no say-so about anything. When we come freely, this tells Him you truly love Him. So He gave us the right to choose whether or not we want to be with Him in heaven, as He is not willing that ANY should miss heaven. When people say no, that's not His fault. He's not going to force them, but by our rejection of Him, we choose our eternal destination. Our choices are OUR responsibility. That is one thing God will not choose for us...where we wish to spend eternity. So, whose fault is it if we refuse so great a salvation? God will honor whichever choice we make. We can never say He did not offer salvation to us. God is fair. Sin is not. Sin kills and brings condemnation with it. Not God. God never created evil. In the beginning, ALL was perfect. There was no sin...until man made a choice to sin, which then separated him from God. We would have done no differently today, though wed like to think so. Man is rebellious and wants his own selfish way. History proves it. Man is destructive and mean. Plus, he never learns, or history wouldn't repeat itself. So the old excuse of why should we be punished for Adam and Eve's sins, doesn't cut it. Man is sinful by nature.
FCNantes · 22-25, M
@LadyGrace Maybe it's truthful that we're all sinful by nature. But that can be countered by choosing not to do bad things (on purpose).

I find the idea that someone who only tries to do good getting punished absurd. To put it another way, someone who believes in the word of God & always tries to be good'll go to heaven. But someone who has different beliefs & always tries to do good won't? Basically, the difference's 1 believes & the other doesn't. But both want to do the same thing; make the world a better place. And we can assume both are doing that.

I don't reject God. I simply don't believe in God, because I haven't got the evidence (or I'm deluded or both). If I was to get communication from God (it'd need to be an experience unexplainable by science), I'd accept it. A few months ago I asked God (in full sincerity) to communicate with me, if that's what he wanted.

Am I expected to do more?
