Another nail in the coffin of Young Earth Creationism: Limestone formation. The rate of formation demolishes Noah's flood. [Spirituality & Religion]

Lime stone forms and deposits at a few different rates depending on temperature, water depth and conditions.
I.E. it forms fastest in warm, calm, shallow seas. Young earthers are already in trouble because the Great Flood was anything but calm, shallow or warm.

Unfortunately for young earthers, this utterly precludes the Noachian flood. The rate of precipitation is just too slow. Young earthers hold that the earth is 6000 years old and Noah's flood happened just 2400 years ago.
That's just not enough time, to account for the amount of limestone we see.

To put it in perspective, if we assume the FASTEST POSSIBLE formation rate for limestone, multiply that by TEN and then say the flood actually lasted five THOUSAND years and you still end up with .02% of the limestone we see today.

I've never understood people that take the Bible totally literally. Christ even said he wrote in parables a parable is nothing more than a story to get across a point. Just as in Matthew Mark Luke and John they all tell similar stories but with different twists to apply to the audience they are speaking to.

True. I wonder why they accept that the NT is not meant to be taken literally at all points but decide that the OT is.

@Pikachu the old testament was written by men it is fallible it does have wise advice just as Confucius. What's amazing is how many people are you about the Torah the old testament and the Quran all three books are virtually identical in the stories that are told. What's funny the Torah is the old testament. What is fascinating about the Quran though is it only mentions Mohammed one time but it mentions Mary 12 times which is amazing considering women were not respected enough to even be mentioned.
