Do you believe in God? [Spirituality & Religion]

I'm agnostic because I don't think we'll ever truly know if there is a God. There might be one, but he just loves playing the silent game. I won't completely deny his existence though because there are some things that happen that seem to be complete miracles. On the contrary of that though, there are a lot of scientific evidence of, for example, evolution which is why I don't believe the Adam and Eve story. Like where'd they come from? My dad said that they come from God. Well okay... So they just appeared out of thin air? That doesn't make any sense to me. So, because of these contradicting thoughts of mine, I don't fully believe him but I don't fully deny him either if that makes sense or if any of this makes sense. But if there truly is one... The human race will most likely never know for sure since he seems to love being quiet and, from how I see things, doesn't seem to have a significant impact on the world.

6 years ago I was dying quickly due to my chronic liver disease when in a moment of clarity I found the spiritual god of my understanding and took my life back. I don't know what God is, but with god in my life I am able to think in a positive manner for probably the 1st time in my life. Now, instead of seeing life as a series of problems that I must try to overcome or get around, I am able to look upon each day as an opportunity to learn and grow, which I believe is why we are here on Earth.

The existence of God cannot be proved or disproved. The act of believing is a leap of faith. I have seen the positive effects that God has on my life and because of that, today, I have faith...

The concepts of God(s) / Superior Omniscient Being is a necessity* for the beginning of a civilized society, and found in the histories all Earthly Societies since we began walking upright.
Men screw up and by definition God cannot!

*(To have an Authoritarian Infallible Figure other than a Man to set up Acceptable Societal Rules & Norms and Universal Consequences for All)

However, the Failings of "Religions", (not of the Gods themselves), is that Men will invariably make Perversions of the God Concept and which are then Imposed upon ignorant "Followers" by the Hierarchy with ulterior motives, (usually of more Power), Thus the Failure of of Man and Man's attempt's to Invent "God".

All belief in GOD requires FAITH, (belief without solid evidence) that God IS whatever you (and your chosen religion) say HE IS! (Even if it is a Confusing Mystery full of Questions Unanswerable).

Soooo, the Faith that GOD "made Everything""because HE Loves and Wants Us" is there as a comforting thought to answer the Unknowable / Unanswerable. Then as Mankind matures intellectually and we discover the more answers about the Universe there are still UNKNOWNS which we can either Accept (say science's explanation) or continue to assign to the Miracle of GOD and keep the Faith.

There's LOTS MORE to consider and discuss, so PM me with any thoughts, if you like

Yes. I don't pretend to know the nature of God, but I do believe. This universe is just too fascinating to be a "random event", IMHO. 😊
kbgloves01 · 70-79, M
I believe that there are no coincidences. At any given time we are all exactly where we are supposed to be because there is order in the universe...

I don't think we live in a "scripted" reality, I think we've been given the luxury (or curse) of "choice" by our creator, for reasons we cannot fathom while in this realm.

@VeronicaPrincess: I absolutely agree with you. God gave us free will because we must do the work. I believe that if I do the work I have a better chance of getting my desired results, but the results are not guaranteed, so when I've done the work to the best of my ability I let go of the results as they are not in my hands. The work I do brings me to the place I am

I believe that there are civilizations and groups of a people (where this Biblical God was a part of), who are/were more advanced than humanity. They were perceived to be legit gods, some still worship them as gods due to their advanced nature, knowledge, and biology. Some guided humanity with their advancements, some intended to harm humanity. Thing is, those "gods" have problems and goals to achieve like everyone else, and in this world they aren't as powerful and omnipotent as people think they are.
Th1nkF1rst · 70-79, M
the "gods" you speak of are/were Men, that's where the failure begins.....

but when these Men create their Powerful Omnipotent GOD whom they purport to represent, then they can take on some of the "mantle" of a God's power.....
IAMNEGAN · M
Agreed, that is the bases of power withing this world's modern struggle of control. We all have the ability to create and destroy, those who have advance knowledge of these concepts are considered gods or godly; no matter who they are or where they come from.

There is no God, and we can now be certain of this. Upon a belief adversarial to the existence of God being proved true God is no longer considered.

@MartinTheFirst: Your lack of insight combined with your rudeness is not endearing.

@LucyRocks:

Ahhhhh, the arrogance of Youth!

I'm not saying you're Right or Wrong...
just smiling at your "infallible certitude"

@Th1nkF1rst: Martin, study as I suggested and lose the rudeness. Then get back to me.

I am not sure if I believe in God yet :)

@markbrokevictoriasheart: I won't just believe in something just because they say "well it is true" without any knowledge/evidence. Out of respect, I will study religion first. I mean, if we just believed in something just because someone said it was true, I could end up believing in any random thing (for example in Buddhism which I have studied previously and do not believe in). :) I am happy to hear that you have found faith, though.

@markbrokevictoriasheart: Not a 👸 SHE? 😨

are you saying that God is and can only be a 👱 Male? 😱
how came live on the earth by the evolution theory?
I think i know a bit about it. just can't explain my thoughts in english.

I have no idea, I didn't study that part
@MsFuzzWuzzOreoCat: ohh okay. I thought you know about this. Okay thanks :)

You're welcome
I have a strong faith and I can see evidence of God every single day.

Eh.
I trust in science, but I don't think everything was just there one day.
I always believed that there is a higher entity, a force, that made things happen, but not that this entity had something to do with out evolution directly.
So basically, no god, no magic stuff, just science that was caused by something bigger.

I don't believe the Abrahamic god is real, but if you want to say that there could be some other kind of non-selfcontradictory god, then sure, I guess there could be.
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
There are a lot of evidence against evolution as well, and evolution is not anywhere near backed up enough to be regarded as truth. It's a hypothesis, because in order for it to even become a theory in scientifical terms it has to be able to be tested, yet it can't. Do you know why? Because people say that evolution happens over such a long period of time that we could never test it if it's the truth. Therefore it's simply a hypothesis yet to even be a theory. 😁
