Does the Bible actually tell us there are many gods? That would make more sense given God's prohibition against worshiping other gods... [Spirituality & Religion]

Here's a section of a youtube video on the nephilim talking about this idea with reference to older sources that appear to indicate that the god of Abraham was not the only god and possibly not even the creator god.
Have a look if you've got a moment. It's quite interesting.

So? That still doesn't prove that the Word of God says there are many gods.
Carazaa · F
@GodSpeed63 Yes, please Lord Jesus, give us patience!
The Bible is quite clear there is one God!
But he says
“ We made man in our image” because it’s the Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit!

God repeatedly begged his beloved people, the Jews, to not worship other gods. He knew they would!

“The Lord will scatter you among the peoples, and only a few will survive among the nations to which The Lord will drive you. There you will worship man made gods of wood, of stone, which cannot see, or hear, or eat, or smell.”

Prophetic for sure! Some worship angels, some science, some dinosaurs, some aliens and other superstitions!

Why not just worship God who hears our prayers and can help us?

@Carazaa
Why not just worship God who hears our prayers and can help us?
Amen, sister, amen.
@GodSpeed63

I think it makes some pretty good scriptural arguments that it does.
Watch the video and get back to me.
@Carazaa
The Bible is quite clear there is one God
Correction: the bible in its modern iteration says that there is one god (kind of).
The older versions of the bible seem to indicate quite a different conclusion.

Watch the video and get back to me on what you think about it.

@Pikachu
Nope! Wrong! I watched the entire video!
@Carazaa

Good.
So then what specific errors do you think he made in the interpretation of the text?
Which parts did you feel were unfounded or unreasonable conclusions based on the history of the evolving text or the shared context of contemporary religions?
Carazaa · F
@Pikachu Man, oh man, where do I start! I already mentioned some verses that have been misunderstood by various interpreters in the past! And He mixed a lot of other texts with the Bible that aren’t Gods word!
The Bible has always had the 10 commandments! God makes it clear in the first 3 commandments that there is no other God but He And not to worship other gods! So what does that mean? It means that we are fickle and we love what we see infront of our face like wood, Gold, and stuff like that.
That’s all! It’s an interesting subject though! And there are various interpretations on various verses but all born again Christians will agree there is one God, and no other!
In the book of Daniel it says that “knowledge will increase in the last days” so the interpretations of many verses are being fine tuned as we speak that people just weren’t paying attention to a century ago. There are also a lot of cults and false preachers in the mix now, because we are in the end times so then people twist truth and try to back it up by adding non biblical texts like this guy, and even their own “ word from God” which is just nonsense!
Why are you so interested in this?
@Carazaa

Which commandment says there are no other gods?
Man, oh man, where do I start!
Anywhere.
Pick one of the verses he describes and explain where his interpretation is in error.

@Pikachu
Which commandment says there are no other gods?
You didn't answer Carazaa's question. This question of yours has answered already, why do you need to hear it again? Do you want to believe this time?
@GodSpeed63

Which question of hers did i miss...
Carazaa · F
@Pikachu It takes certain spiritual discernment to not come up with our own imaginations when we read the Bible! Jesus told us that we have to come as a child!
So when we read exodus 20:4, the 10 commandments where God speaks to Moses and tells him not to have other gods. He tells him right after “Do not make an image and bow down to it!” So BINGO there you go! That’s what he means, that’s another god, mans wood or golden calf,

In Genesis 1 God says “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” So There you go.... EVERYTHING is created by him! Doesn’t leave room for any other God right?

John 1:1 God says “In the beginning was the word! And the word was with God! And the word was God! ALL things were made by him and without him was not anything made that was made.”

So there you go! There is one God who created us humans and angels!
@Carazaa
It takes certain spiritual discernment
You mean one must adhere to the dogma and ignore alternative interpretations.
So BINGO there you go! That’s what he means, that’s another god, mans wood or golden calf,
...Except that the bible makes clear distinctions between fake gods with no power made of stone and wood and other gods who will be judge by the most high.
Doesn’t leave room for any other God right?
Wrong.
How do you know what "heavens and earth" refers to?
How do you know that means everything that exists and not just god's realm and earth?
Carazaa · F
@Pikachu That’s my interpretation of what I read! I try to read it through every year and I don’t read books about the Bible ever because I’m afraid that I will be influenced by Satanic interpretations! All I want to know is Gods own word!
You “ atheists” are so sarcastic making fun of us Christians that I’m afraid to share how I come up with my interpretations and I’m tired of being critisized! (Matt Dillahunty laughs every time someone calls his program and explains that the Bible interprets itself. don’t watch it anymore because he’s just so arrogant and mean)
I interpret Gods own word with the rest of the Bible! I want to know what God wants me to know about him! God wants us to know that there is ONE God who created everything! He says this many times! He created angels but they have no power that God doesn’t give them. Besides that there are no other gods, God says “besides me there are no other gods” so either you trust the Bible or you don’t, and you want to twist Gods word!

@Pikachu
“I AM The Lord, and there is no other. There is no God besides me. I will strengthen you, although you have not acknowledged me.” Isa 45:5
@Carazaa
I’m afraid that I will be influenced
I am not surprised to hear that. You're afraid to expose yourself to points of view that might give you legitimate reasons to doubt.
You're afraid of how that would shake up your life and i don't blame you. To have that foundation shaken is something i can't imagine.

To me this is just one of many things that i feel are contradictions in the bible.
God says there are no other gods but then also says he will sit in judgement of other gods and that some gods are fake gods made of stone and some gods aren't as powerful and so on.

You're entitled to your opinion of course. I just thought this was a very interesting and compelling argument for the notion that in the beginning, Judaism recognized the existence of many gods.
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
@Pikachu
I am not surprised to hear that. You're afraid to expose yourself to points of view that might give you legitimate reasons to doubt.
There are no legitimate reasons to doubt God.
@GodSpeed63

There are, but just like Carazaa, you're afraid to admit it.
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
@Pikachu
There are, but just like Carazaa, you're afraid to admit it.
Not a chance. We don't need to be afraid for we've experienced God through Christ and have no reason to doubt that they live.
@GodSpeed63
We don't need to be afraid for we've experienced God through Christ and have no reason to doubt
Carazaa: I don’t read books about the Bible ever because I’m afraid

@Pikachu
Carazaa: I don’t read books about the Bible ever because I’m afraid
That tells me that Carazaa doesn't want to trade the truth of God for the lie of men. I can't blame her for that.
@GodSpeed63

I don't blame her for anything. I'm just not putting words in her mouth like you just did.

@Pikachu
Yes when the Jews in the Bible married the Canaanites who worshiped Molek they forgot about the God who brought them out of slavery! They started worshiping other gods of wood and stone! They were deceived believing these were real! But they were not real! That’s when they started having problems!

God is trustworthy and if we stick with him God has promised us that we Will have success! I like being successful in what I do, so I will stick with God!
“God’s way is straight and narrow!, and few are those who travel on that road, but wide is the road that leads to destruction, and many are those who travel on it”

As people we are all highly influenced by what we put our eyes on! If we look at our savings account we will want it to grow, if we look at cars we want to buy one, if we look at chocolate we want a piece, so we need to guard our hearts! I am aware I am weak and it is maturity to guard our hearts and mind from deviating from the narrow way! The Jews were foolish! I don’t want to be foolish and follow other gods but the God who saved me so why do I need someone else to tell me what God is telling me in his word? I don’t!

The road in the Bible might seem narrow and straight but it is the only way that leads to success! Don’t travel on the wide road that leads to destruction!
@Carazaa

You guard yourself by refusing to test yourself. Refusing to test the validity of the beliefs you hold.
No judgement on you personally but to me that is cowardice.
I constantly test what i believe against the world and every time i come away with strengthened conviction.
You might try that out instead of retreating to an echo chamber or dismissing out of hand any conflicting evidence or argument🤷‍♀️
