By Jehovah Witnesses, yes but later on we ditched it and turn to Jesus. I was usually the one who left that Religion First and found out we don't need Religion to have a personal relationship with God/Jesus Christ.

@FreestyleArt I sent out the Mormon missionaries to your door.

Catholic mom, Presbyterian dad. I was raised to be very Catholic, much to my dad's dismay... but I guess it didn't matter in the end. 🤭

Religious, but not even close to fundamentalist. Lots of thought and questioning involved.

@Senpai My Dad was a preacher, and church-going and all involved was a part of everyday life. That was okay, because we lived in the country and church and school was the only life there was.
He made it a point to take us to different houses of worship like synagogues.
My folks didn't try to scare us holy, and we were not prevented from participating in the usual kid activities like dances.
Dad himself didn't put much stock in rituals. He believed in God and that was the emphasis - spirituality.

Being involved in the Stalinist wing of the old Communist Party was kind of like being exposed to a very strict religion. At least that was my observation from growing up with CP involved parents. I came on here hoping I'd find others from my background. I was rejected from going into youth training for the CP because my dad got into trouble with the CP. It effected my entire childhood and much of my life.

I was raised by nuns that would use long sticks and beat me every night before bed.

Yes, but not a fanatical one. I was able to ask questions at home, even as a child, and my parents always attempted to answer me based upon their understanding. When I left the church as an adult it didn’t damage our relationship.
