I am not a believer but if I was, my view would be that the more science shows us of nature here on Earth and in the Universe at large, the greater, more majestic, more complex and more beautiful we see God's work to be.
If I were once such modern Christian, I do not think I would be alone in that philosophy - far from it.
Whist I appreciate OT literalism may make its adherents feel certain or secure in a very uncertain and insecure world; I regard it as missing - or dismissing, even demeaning - the point, the Bible's nature, and sadly, what its own God has done.

@ArishMell Exactly. If you believe in God, then science can't disprove God. If science seems to discover something that contradicts the Bible, then religious understanding needs to be re-evaluated. It happened when the earth was discovered to revolve around the sun. Martin Luther claimed that this contradicted scripture and therefore couldn't be true. We now know it's true and no Christian tries to claim the sun revolves around the earth anymore. They simply read the Bible differently and do not make the claim that Bible supports geocentrism.

Yes. I know many Christians who do or at least admit that some kind of evolution occurred. Those who believe in young earth creationism seem to be the minority.

@GodSpeed63 Young earth creationism is pure foolishness. Not supported by any empirical evidence. It exists only as an after-the-fact justification of a particular interpretation of scripture.
