No. its a silly fairy tale clutched onto by people who cling to superstition.
Speedyman · 70-79, M
No that is called atheism. A belief that nothing made something@redredred
Allelse · 36-40, M
@Speedyman Why would an all knowing being create a race of beings, knowing he was going to drown them someday? He knew they were going to defy him to the point he'd see no other choice but to drown them, so why create them in the first place?
Speedyman · 70-79, M
God created mankind to be in relationship with him. That first relationship failed but now throughChrist it is possible. You really need to read the New Testament for the good news@Allelse
Allelse · 36-40, M
@Speedyman But why create them in the first place if he knew it was going to fail?
Speedyman · 70-79, M
Why do we have children when we know they might fail? @Allelse
Allelse · 36-40, M
@Speedyman Having children is a wild card, we can't know how they're going to turn out. God is all knowing and he knew humanity would fail and that he was going to drown them in the flood.
Speedyman · 70-79, M
Not at all. God in love gave mankind free will and hence the possibility of failure. Don’t you want free will? @Allelse
Allelse · 36-40, M
@Speedyman Make up your mind, either God knows all or he doesn't.
Speedyman · 70-79, M
Yes he does but we don’t. Your problem appears to be that you think you do. @Allelse
Allelse · 36-40, M
@Speedyman Alright. God knows all, so that means God knew before he made us that we would fail, right?
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@Speedyman
No that is called atheism. A belief that nothing made something
1. there's no proof that gods exist (otherwise we'd all be theists)
2. there's no proof that gods don't exist (they might be lurking around a mountain-top somewhere)
3. in any event, there's no compelling necessity to even postulate gods, and the postulation explains nothing... it merely tries to explain everything away.
4. therefore, I have no gods - I’m an agnostic atheist

Where in there do you see a belief that nothing made something?

For that matter, where in there do you see any sort of belief?
Speedyman · 70-79, M
If you had any understanding of modern science you would realise that it’s up to the atheist to prove their position not up to the theist to prove their’s. And please if you can’t think of anything more intelligent than gods lurking in mountain tops no wonder you don’t believe. We don’t believe in them either. @newjaninev2
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@Speedyman how quaint. So prove to me Zeus is not real using this modern scientific method you claim to understand.
Speedyman · 70-79, M
Interestingly you don’t understand either theology or modern science. You invoke a fictional God and show that you have no understanding of modern science. No wonder you’re thinking is all over the place@MasterLee
Allelse · 36-40, M
@Speedyman Are you unable to answer my question?
Speedyman · 70-79, M
No because I am not God and do not know all the answers. We do not know the answer to everything. Some of us realise that @Allelse
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@Speedyman
understanding of modern science
How is ‘modern’ science different from 20th century science... or 19th century science... or Newton’s science?

Your puerile attempt to avoid your burden aside (tedious pap), please tell me how:

1. there's no proof that gods exist (otherwise we'd all be theists)
2. there's no proof that gods don't exist (they might be lurking around a mountain-top somewhere)
3. in any event, there's no compelling necessity to even postulate gods, and the postulation explains nothing... it merely tries to explain everything away.
4. therefore, I have no gods

is a position needing to be proven?
Allelse · 36-40, M
@Speedyman Great!! I'm glad you've finally admitted that, that's a hell of a step forward for you to admit that you don't know. Phew! Had to get there eventually. And you're not God? Even better that's good too.

Now would you create beings to fail you, with the intent to drown them when they failed?
Speedyman · 70-79, M
No I would redeem them like God has done. If you read the new Testament you will find that God has redeemed his creation @Allelse
Allelse · 36-40, M
@Speedyman But he didn't redeem those people in the old testament, he drowned them. Little babies, and little children, and baby animals. That's sick.
Speedyman · 70-79, M
Do you ever have anything else but these tired arguments which theist don’t believe anyway like pagan gods behind mountains? There may not be any reason for you to post you like gods but the fact is that God exists. Because you can’t get your tiny mind round it it doesn’t make it any of the lesser fact@newjaninev2
Speedyman · 70-79, M
Well you have it out with him then if you know better. God sent a preacher called Noah among them to call them into the Ark and they wouldn’t go. So they had a choice whether to believe Noah or not@Allelse
Allelse · 36-40, M
@Speedyman That doesn't change anything. Telling someone to get on a boat or you'll drown their baby is not nice. That's what he did, he said get on Noah's boat or I'll drown you and your family and your baby. And what about the baby animals? They didn't know what was going on.
Speedyman · 70-79, M
Well you give people a choice as God is giving you a choice now. If you don’t choose to take it then whose fault is it?@Allelse
Allelse · 36-40, M
@Speedyman Well, the modern churches preaches in one form or another "Do what God wants or he will burn you alive forever". That's not nice, that's mean. That is essential the same as "Get on this boat or I will drown you". That's not nice. That's cruel. And again, what about the baby animals?
