Does anyone else pray to God when they are upset, even if they don't believe in God? [Spirituality & Religion]

I don't believe in Christianity's version of God, but whenever I am truly upset, then I find myself using God as some sort of comfort. Example: Someone does something insanely cruel to me and I think to myself: God will deal with them.
I'm not sure how to put it, but I do think there is some sort of power above us and there are moral lines that one should not cross, but I don't want to put any names to it or tie myself down to one religion.
What does that make me? Anyone else feel the same?

I don´t believe in that god.

It doesn´t make sense to me that people pray to a being who is supposedly all powerful but yet never materializes when kids get raped or abused and animals are tortured.

And the reason being because it´s imaginary.

the reason is because there is sin in the world and humans have free will.

Maybe the power can only do so much? I mean there is truly lots of evil in this world.
@sassygirl15: No, it´s imaginary, it does not exist. What a lame excuse you use.

@Underconstruction: you believe as you do i will believe as i do if you respect my beliefs i will respect yours.
@sassygirl15: Sure, but since you are posting a question on this particular topic, one would think you are interested in debating , not in blaming the victims to justify the absence of the imaginary being you and others pray to.

@Underconstruction: i was not meaning to blame the victims. i was saying that sin is in the world and sadly the men that perform these sins were acting of their own free will. i think we both misunderstood the other.

@Underconstruction: She didn't post the question. I did!
@NineLives: Sorry, my bad.
@NineLives: Isn´t it all powerful and mighty ? How come itspower is diminished in the face of rapists and abusers ??????
NineLives · 41-45, F
@Underconstruction: I don't necessarily think it is all powerful and mighty. I think it might be able to do some things, but not all things. After all, none of us are perfect.
It might even be a question of positive energy against negative energy, yin and yang.
@NineLives: That´s the believers´take on this matter. If something happens to them god will fix it because it is all powerful, if it happens to somebody else, god is not that powerful and there is always free will, 😂

@Underconstruction: you could also ask how come he let alot things throughout history happened. i have myself wondered how come he allowed my ancestors to be ran out of germany and switzerland by the german army but i turn to the fact there is sin in the world and men have free will. but they will one day pay for those sins.
NineLives · 41-45, F
@Underconstruction: No, I don't necessarily think that it will fix all of my problems. It is just nice to think that it might.
I also think to myself that the person's own guilt and lifestyle may catch up to them one day and that wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing for them to be able to reflect on their self.
@sassygirl15: So where is its power ? It just doesn´t make sense to pray to a powerless imaginary being.

Hence the famous quote :

"Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?"

@Underconstruction: once again he gave men free will. if god controled us totally there would be no sin. God gave Adam and Eve free will and by eating of the forbidden fruit they brought sin into this world. and as he did them the devil still tempts people today.
