When you read the bible, what about it makes you feel that it is divinely inspired? [Spirituality & Religion]

Because i don't get that sense at all when i read it. Just the opposite in fact.

I don't believe religion and science are mutually exclusive. I believe they prove each other.
Speedyman · 70-79, M
Of course. The Bible tells us why the universe was formed in science tells us how it works. All this crap about size disproving faith is an absolute load of garbage dreamed up in the 19th century and swallowed by the gullible. @Ladyred
@Ladyred

I agree with the first half of that. Not so much the second.
Ladyred · 46-50, F
@Speedyman I wasn't aware size could disprove faith...
Speedyman · 70-79, M
Of course it canNot disprove faith. It can affirm our faith when rightly used. @Ladyred

@Speedyman
when rightly used
I’d be fascinated to know what you mean by ‘rightly used’
@newjaninev2

I think "rightly used" denotes examples of science agreeing with the bible and "wrongly" would be any time it doesn't.😉

@Ladyred I could have not said it better. Pikachu wants to divide God from creation. But Mother Nature is also God the Father.
Ladyred · 46-50, F
@carsonfry If you consider Spirit, is Spirit there is no gender, there are no labels...
carsonfry · 22-25, M
@Ladyred I admire your wisdom.
Ladyred · 46-50, F
@carsonfry I admire that you are one who can see beyond boundaries, and accept...(;
Pikachu wants to divide God from creation.

Quite incorrect. Please don't put words in my mouth.

I argue that god did not create as described in genesis.
I fully concede the possibility that if god wanted to create life using evolution as the mechanism then he could have done so.
Ladyred · 46-50, F
@Pikachu No one is doubting your intention sweet Pikachu, only your method...(; We love questions, question everything and never stop! (;
@Ladyred

Sounded like he was lol.
What is my method though?
Ladyred · 46-50, F
@Pikachu That is entirely up to you my friend..
@Ladyred

Well i mean what do you perceive to be my method since it is that which you doubt?
Ladyred · 46-50, F
@Pikachu Again, back to you this question Pikachu...I cannot define for you, nor can anyone else...but we love that you are brave enough to ask hard questions..(;
@Ladyred

lol well ok then. Thanks😉
Ladyred · 46-50, F
@Pikachu Your welcome, marinate on that a while, you are greater than you give yourself credit for..
@Ladyred

Well thank you, that's very affirming lol
Ladyred · 46-50, F
@Pikachu You are one of the greats, my dear friend!
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@Pikachu it wouldn’t create life using evolution (you know this), it would create different species using evolution, but would have no control over which species eventuated. If it exercised any degree of control, that wouldn’t be evolution, and it definitely wouldn’t be evolution by natural selection.
It’d be goal-specific achievement by using the most convoluted and messy process imaginable.
Speedyman · 70-79, M
The problem I’d there is little of no evidence for the creation of new species by evolution. @newjaninev2
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@Speedyman your claim is not only absurd, it also has nothing to do with my comment
@newjaninev2

Sure. I just mean that if god wanted to populate the earth with organisms, he could have done it via evolution.

I'm not sure about not having a hand in it though. You'd be right that it would no longer be evolution as we understand it but if we're talking about an omnipotent being then it could certainly be guiding evolution in subtle ways which we have no way of detecting.
