God can exist logically if you believe in the law of cause and effect.
"According to the Law of Cause and Effect, every effect must have a cause."

@Penny
every effect must have a cause.
So what caused this god thing to exist?
Penny · 46-50, F
@Sharon aha, perhaps it was our very existence that caused Him in turn
Penny · 46-50, F
@Sharon if He made us, what made him?
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1

@Penny The Beginning

(Genesis 1:1-2)

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

Some do believe man created god in his own image.

You're not quoting Genesis in that last post.

None of that answers the question anyway. If everything needs a creator, what created the creator?
Penny · 46-50, F
@Sharon i just copy and pasted that. well, obviously, man did create God in a sense. at least the concept of God, but the question then would be, what caused them to believe in such a thing? it's like an endless loop. we could waste our whole lives pondering the origination of God (or what he truly consists of) or we can just accept that he exists and act according to our relationship with Him. I don't know how my parents came into being besides that they were born from my grandparents, should i give them less respect for that fact? Their existence is my blessing, and they are my creators in a a sense. To me, this is like God. He is just there... he created us somehow and that is enough for me.
Sharon · F
@Penny
or we can just accept that he exists
Or we can just accept that it doesn't exist and continue to try to expand human knowledge.

he created us somehow and that is enough for me.
If that belief is enough for you, fine, it is just a belief though. Some of us prefer to continue learning.
Penny · 46-50, F
@Sharon that's very true. my belief really isn't a belief it's a knowing like how I know the seasons change but don't know why. people who don't believe in God are no better at "expanding human knowledge" and a belief in God doens't necessarily mean we aren't open to learning or that our belief limits us. that's just ridiculous a ridiculous assertation. if anything a disbelief in God would be limiting especially spiritually. denying what we don't understand is pretty ignorant. for example, someone told me they saw the aurora borealis. i've never seen it, therefore they must be delusional..
Penny · 46-50, F
@Sharon i mean, maybe some people will never come to know God in their lives. they say the only way to know God is through Jesus Christ. maybe some people don't need Jesus in their lives.. i certainly don't know.. "he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." https://biblehub.com/kjv/mark/2.htm

I disagree. All too often a religious person will attempt to shut down debate by saying "God did it, don't question god." I accept a belief in a god doesn't necessarily limit one's ability to learn, that can easily be shown by the fact that many Atheists formerly believed in a god or god(s). There are, however, those believers who absolutely refuse to consider anything that doesn't fully comform with their beliefs.

if anything a disbelief in God would be limiting especially spiritually.
Which god? A belief in just one, to the exclusion of all others, is very limiting spiritually. Do you believe in all gods equally?
Sharon · F
@Penny
maybe some people will never come to know God in their lives
Maybe some people will never come to know Odin or Zeus or Kahless the Unforgettable or Jove or even Santa Claus. What your point?
Penny · 46-50, F
@Sharon well, there may be people like that. but open mindedness usually is more conducive to learning. and as far as believing in all Gods pesonally let;s just say on one hand I am open to the possibility of their existence and on the other , I do believe there is only one true God whatever name you wish to call him. doen't mean there can't be lesser gods as well.
Penny · 46-50, F
@Sharon my point is that I think maybe Jesus only comes to you if you are in need but he might not come if you don't ask for him.
Sharon · F
@Penny

Most Atheists recognize we don't know everything so are open to the possibility that supernatural beings such as gods might exist. Those who strongly believe in one god tend to be closed minded to the possibility of other gods. Everyone is Atheist in respect of nearly all gods, Atheists just go one god more.

I do believe there is only one true God whatever name you wish to call him.
As a Pagan friend told me, "If there be an ultimate creator, there can only be one." His view was the He/She/It shows His/Her/Itself differently to each of us.

I think maybe Jesus only comes to you if you are in need
The same can be said of any god.
Penny · 46-50, F
@Sharon i thougth athiests don't believe in God. I think you are thinking of agnostics
Sharon · F
@Penny
i thougth athiests don't believe in God.
I can't speak for all Atheists but, in general, that's right. As there is no real evidence that "god" exist, they don't believe it does. If real evidence were presented, the situation would change.

@Penny
I thought atheists don't believe in God.

There are no such people that are atheists except for those skeptics lying six feet under their headstones. In spite of what these skeptics claim, they believe in some type of idol and have faith as long as they're alive.
@GodSpeed63 Do you read and follow every word of the bible?
