Do we need God for Morality? [Spirituality & Religion]

Obviously the secular answer is a resounding NO.
But if you're a theist who says "yes", i want to hear your reasoning.

For those people who believe other religions believe in the Golden rule. Let me just inform you that The Bible was before all of the ones that “ proclaim” to be loving. The Bible was thousands of years before. The 10 commandments were written about 4000 years ago (1,600 before the year of our Lord) .
Buddah lived 600 years BC foreinstance. They all borrow from the Bible!
Buddah was so frustrated with his family that he left them for 2 years to meditate??
We can all say we are moral but who acts moral? Jesus was tortured for us who don’t love him. That is our God! He is moral and that is how we are required to act!
Entwistle · 56-60, M
@Carazaa Buddha left his family to meditate.He didn't leave them in poverty,quite the opposite.
Later they joined him and followed his ideas.
He also said (long before the Christ myth appeared) that tricks such as walking on water create followers of the man..not the man's teachings. In other words hero worshiping the man..a total waste of time.
Do you worship Jesus or his teachings?
@Carazaa

Do you have proof or evidence that these religions borrowed from the bible or is that just an assertion made on the basis that you think that's the source?

Mans morality is from God! He put it in our hearts, but no one does what he says except true Christians. We’re hated, just like God!
@Carazaa

I acknowledge that, that is what you believe.
Carazaa · F
@Pikachu
That’s a fact! All the religions who proclaim to be loving are far from it!
Look at their countries! Look at their Governments. They shoot people! Or work them to death! Or kill their Babies for economic reasons! And that’s what they do to their own people. What do they do to their enemies? This is where Jesus stands out like a bright star in the night sky! And the countries that have had Christian Governments are so different than the rest of the world! That’s why the rest of the world tries to emigrate to the west!

@Carazaa
Mans morality is from God!
Where's your evidence to support that opinion? Followers of other religions say their morality comes from their god(s)
@Carazaa
And the countries that have had Christian Governments are so different than the rest of the world!
I know you like to say that but it's really not true.
Let's talk about shooting people.
The american government is one of the most christian in the western world. They tout their christianity as fundamentally important...and yet their citizens are shooting each other more than any other first world nation. Their armies are around the world shooting more people than any other nation. They get downright violent at the suggestion that they can't just have any gun the want.

And that's pretending you've excluded all other variables which you have not.
And that still is not proof that the source of morality is god.
@Carazaa How do you explain all the people from the Middle East and Africa trying to emigrate to Western Europe, which is essentially atheistic?

Billy graham is on tv! I’ll get back to you!
@Carazaa

lol i don't know who that is but enjoy
Sharon · F
@Pikachu He's an evangelist who died a couple of years ago.
@Sharon

A televangelist? lol hmmm those guys are usually totally on the up an up...
Sharon · F
@Pikachu He made a lot of money out of it. Not only TV, he was also involved in some very lucrative rallies.
@Sharon

They usually do lol
Sharon · F
@Pikachu At least, by working for a living, we have self respect.
Carazaa · F
@Sharon Ofcourse people have their gods and that is my point, that their morality is of their making and a little of the 10 commandments in the mix. So now we have suicides like never before! People’s morals are blowing in the wind. A strong wind and they have no foundation to stand on! Life is great when you meet someone and you’re in love! But God shakes everything! And in 2008-20012 He shook America. My Mom lost one million dollars in the stock market! I will shake everything God says! Where do you turn to? I am already standing on solid rock, Jesus! Only he can save us!

@Sharon @Pikachu
He was never a televangelist! My grandma watched his sermons in Sweden on tv though and loved him! His sermons are amazing! Many were trained to pray with people at his sermons in stadiums all over the world until he died last year I helped him like many others. I volunteered to help. He was America’s and the worlds most famous twenty first century evangelist! He was so sweet. In an interview before he died he said he felt like he didn’t do enough for the world to warn them, and he felt like a failure! Oh my what an amazing Godly and humble man! He loved his family so much. The first time he kissed a woman was when he kissed his wife and proposed! They were married for probably 70 plus years a happy marriage. I gave to his missions for 30 years!
He prayed with 30 US presidents and helped them as well as the queen of England!

The christian countries are not violent! America is an exception! I am shocked at the cowboy and Indian mentality and fear of everything in this country! I have lived in a few countries and am basing my statements on the Protestant Governments! The USA is not a Protestant country! It is a country based on the American dream of owning a house, a gun, and a car! It is a melting pot and a country of freedom of religion! Not a Christian country primarily! However many are christians here! I am not for freedom of religion I have lived in a christian country and know the difference! The Swedish passport is the most coveted passport in the world for a reason! Now I love the USA but it has some problems and I hope and pray people can improve the drugs, crime and the homelessness!

@Carazaa
Ofcourse people have their gods and that is my point, that their morality is of their making
Their morality comes from their gods just as christians claim their morality come from theirs. No difference.
@Carazaa

Mexico, nigeria, philipines, brazil....

All very christian by population.
All quite peaceful with low crime and murder rates i hear....*sarcasm*
Carazaa · F
@Pikachu
Those countries you mentioned are not Protestant they are Catholic and also heavily native Indian tribal combining worship of ancestors and pray to Mary! These countries are following foreign gods and will not be blessed as long as they do! Because God has promised “the country who’s God is the Lord will be blessed. “
Carazaa · F
@Sharon
Yes people love Jesus and are blessed or worship the dead and Mary and are cursed, yep. I am here to steer people to a blessed life where their prayers can be answered, and have success in their life!
@Carazaa

Yes i thought you might say something like that. They're doing Christianity wrong.
This kind of attitude is alarming.
Just look at what it did to Ireland.

Sorry, you can't claim that christian nations are non-violent and then proceed to exclude every counter example because you don't thin their christianity is the right kind...which is exactly what they would say about you, btw.

That's a logical fallacy known as the No True Scotsman fallacy.
@Carazaa
. I am here to steer people to a blessed life where their prayers can be answered, and have success in their life!
Here's the thing though, carazaa. That happens for everybody of every denomination...and also doesn't happen for people in every denomination.
You can attribute this success or that failure to religion all you want but is IS just that: attribution.

There's a man who practiced the psychic arts and told people their futures. He knew it wasn't real, he was just cold reading and giving advice. And yet people would come to him and say "Everything you predicted for me came true! It was miraculous!".

But it wasn't. It was fakery and coincidence with enough random hits for people to ignore the misses.
Same goes for prayer. Except when you get a miss you just re-frame it as god saying no for good reasons.
Carazaa · F
@Pikachu
I gave an example of Protestant countries and you come back with examples of Catholic countries??? What do Catholic countries have to do with the Protestant ? Nothing!
