Do we need God for Morality? [Spirituality & Religion]

Obviously the secular answer is a resounding NO.
But if you're a theist who says "yes", i want to hear your reasoning.

@TakingBackMidgard That's because it isn't. All you've done was show us how ignorant you are of God's Word.
@TakingBackMidgard That’s true.

@GodSpeed63 Do you read and follow every word of the bible?
Reverend · M
@GodSpeed63 Amen, Brother!
@GodSpeed63 So you're saying that didn't happen?

I agree, it's just a made-up story that symbolizes total commitment to God. But while people don't sacrifice their children, they still mutilate babies' penises, so there's that.
Reverend · M
@LeopoldBloom Aren't you in support of baby mutilation? Aka abortion.
@Reverend No, I support abortion rights because I'm against enslaving women and forcing them to serve as incubators against their will. Embryos aren't "babies," by the way.

I've already asked if you are opposed to the taking of human life in all conceivable circumstances, and you've said you have exceptions. So why are your exceptions OK but mine aren't? I'm opposed to mutilating babies (who are already born) for frivolous reasons.
Reverend · M
@LeopoldBloom you call it embryo, I call it a person. I don't agree that abortion should be used as birth control. Period.
@Reverend And I don't think women should be forced to serve as incubators against their will. The word for forcing someone to use their body in the service of another is slavery.

If everyone is a "person," then you can't kill anyone for any reason, even to save your own life.

Vegas say that animals are people, so according to them, you're a murderer if you eat a steak.
Reverend · M
@LeopoldBloom its not slavery if they did it knowing what would happen. Its called choice.
@TakingBackMidgard

lol it is funny how crazy some of these bible stories sound when removed from the foundational belief that god is good and just and real...
@Pikachu What’s really funny is how the anti abortion people were yelling at me and trying to shame me because I was getting a procedure done. I needed to get a job and nobody was gonna hire a pregnant woman!!!
@Reverend

So you think that an embryo should have exactly the same rights as a fully formed, adult human being?
Reverend · M
@Pikachu I think that embryo should have the right to life, like it or not that is a different person and it is not part of the woman. It has its own DNA.
@Reverend

Every person has the right to life.
So does that mean you think an embryo should have the same rights as a fully formed adult human? Yes or no?
Reverend · M
@Pikachu you're not going to twist it. Does it have the same DNA as the woman or is it different? So what do we call it when we dispose of something that is living?
@Reverend

I'm not trying to twist anything. I'm asking you a very simple question.
You appear to think that an embryo is a human and deserves the same rights as another human.
Do you?
Yes or no?
Reverend · M
@Pikachu do you think a 2yr old should be able to buy a bottle of whiskey for self consumption? That makes more sense then what your asking.
@Reverend

I'm sorry, you don't think what i'm asking makes sense?
Can you be specific as to what is not making sense to you?
When i ask you if you believe that an embryo is a human and should have the same rights as any other human being, what is not making sense to you?
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@Reverend Then you object to the taking of any human life, without exception.
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
@LeopoldBloom
So you're saying that didn't happen?
Not the way TakingBackMidgard put it.
Reverend · M
@Bushranger No I don't, there are definite times when death is needed.
Reverend · M
@Pikachu whats dont you get? A baby in its mothers womb vs a full grown adult. Quite a stretch eh?
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@Reverend When is the taking of a human life needed?
@Reverend
whats dont you get?
I don't get your reticence to simply say yes or no.
Can you do that for me? Can you just either agree or disagree with the statement so that we can move on?

An embryo should be considered a human being and should have the same rights as any other human being.

Yes or no?
Reverend · M
@Pikachu an embryo deserves life. Now answer me concerning DNA. Is it a different person then the woman or not?
