Do we need God for Morality? [Spirituality & Religion]

Obviously the secular answer is a resounding NO.
But if you're a theist who says "yes", i want to hear your reasoning.

where does morality come from in the first place ?
@revenant

Well i think a very good argument can be made that morality or the predisposition towards a few fundamental moral behaviours arose through our evolution as a social species.

@Pikachu dunno. why are we different from animals ?
@revenant

In more and more ways, we're finding that we're not.
Things once thought to be uniquely human are now found in other animals. For example, even monkeys have been shown to have a sense of fair treatment as compared to other monkeys and become outraged when they don't receive it.

@Pikachu are you somebody who puts animals on an equal footing or even superior to humans ?
@revenant

I am not.
I place more value on human life but i am smart enough to understand that, that is nothing but a homo-centric bias. My life has no more intrinsic value than that of a cow and i defy anyone to make an argument to the contrary.
No, all i've said there is that many qualities which we once though were the sole province of humanity turn out to be common in the animal kingdom.
@revenant Morality evolved as a survival mechanism. As social animals, humans that were able to give up part of their personal autonomy for the good of the group, led to the survival of those groups that managed to do that, thus passing down the traits of altruism and cooperation, even though those traits may not be beneficial for the individual.
