Padre Pio had the stigmata wounds. He was examined by many doctors who couldnt give an explaination. He died in 1968 so it was not to far back for doctors to be mislead or tricked imo.
@Cutiepi23
1) the first hit on google says he used acid to make the wounds.
2) i've asked for examples of natural phenomena which later were proved to be have a supernatural explanation, not examples of things we attribute to the supernatural in absence of a natural explanation. I know that's a bit nuanced.

@Pikachu I don't think using acid could achieve those type of wounds. The acid would spread over his skin and over time it would effet his whole body and bones. However the wounds remained the same throughout his life. Im not one who believes easily but because this is fairly recent I tend to give it more credit.

That's not how acid works. It's just a chemical reaction at the site of contact and possibly a secondary reaction a little further along. It's not a pathogen or a cancer that spreads through different tissue or continues to degrade after the initial reaction has finished.

Forgive me if this sounds rude, but it doesn't sound like you're qualified to make that kind of judgement. Fair?
And remember my second point.

@Pikachu Your right Im not qualified. I also know your not rude. However if he was using acid over a lengthy time I honestly doubt it could make perfect marks. I understand what your saying how acid works. I think over time the secondary reaction would become more apparent. I guess in the case of Padre Pio its down to faith & belief. I'd hate to think he was a trickster so many people believe in him.
