I really enjoy reading the bible but i just can't get over the cruelty of it. [Spirituality & Religion]
Every time i read something like "And then they burned him and his family alive" or "and they killed every man, woman and child" it just bums me out. How can this be the will of a loving god? That's a hard pill to swallow.
Thoughts?

Yeah but it's not just about what humans do of their own accord. It's also what god orders.

Kill all the women and children and babies. All of them. That's horrifying and cruel and that's an order from god.
That's what you believe. I don't believe the same. There is no excuse, no justification for mass murder of women, children and babies. But of course you understand that fact. You understand that if any other person or any other god ordered that every man, woman, child, baby and animal should be slaughtered, you'd cry evil. But you don't do that because it's your god.
