Because that way we know that if we see a vision it is Satan, not Jesus. Satan imitates Jesus. In the last verse of the Bible Jesus says
[b]"Do not add to this book or I will add to you the plaques of this book, and do not take away from this book or I will take away from the rewards of this book." Rev 22:19

There is some disagreement about what He meant but I think it means that we should not get confused, and only focus on the Bible where God speaks to us today, and the Holy Spirit speaking truth to our hearts, and dreams.
