What do they mean by ? Is science the new religion ? What do they mean by that [Spirituality & Religion]

reflectingmonkey · 51-55, M
some religious people try to say that science and religion are both belief systems and that there is no difference between believing in religion or believing in science. this is a big misconception of how science works. science is defined by its method of collecting data and its ability to change when new data comes along, its not defined by its content. also, science does not establish what the unalterable truth is, science establishes models and theories that have a degree of applicability and when a new model comes along with a better degree of applicability it replaces the previous one so it is implied that the ultimate truth can never be known since we only have models of what the ultimate truth might be.
It's just another excuse to deny God exists, and is the answer. Science hasn't the ability to save souls, plain and simple.
There's more atheists than ever because of science.... But modern science is actually taking us back to religion.... Many scientists believe in God. We are finding out that there is more than seeing is believing
@Grateful4you are you talking about America? Cause I'm not American. I totally agree with not imposing beliefs and I know I'm entitled to mine lol, I'm not sure what your getting at
@MushroomFaerie America yes, and let's just drop it because these kinds of debates end up going nowhere and I'm awfully tired. Have a great time tonight. ✌️🏽
@Grateful4you your the one making things into debates lol. Yeah you have a good night dude
All science is based on what is observable and measurable. Science is never a religion, it's totally "faith" based and requires fear to keep the sheeple in tow.

@Grateful4you I think there just complicating God instead of keeping things simple .
And also I thought it was what John Travolta and Tom Cruise are involved in .
The scientology group
@riseofthemachine Ronald L. Hubbard was a science fiction writer and "Scientology" was started on a bet that he could amass a fortune starting his new religion. It's a typical cult driven society. I love those two are great actors but not very bright.

They probably don't mean Christian Science, whose bible is Mary Baker Eddy's book Science and Health, but related somewhat.
@SW-User Jean Harlow died because her mother was a Christian scientist and refused Jean of medical intervention that could have saved her. Another reason religious cults are so dangerous.

I think they were referring to the fact that some people but blind faith in the accuracy of certain scientific institutions. Believing in the correctness of what is told to them without question. That sort of thing.

@DDonde Perhaps "some people" that haves no clue of what Science is, yes.

A dumbass might say that. Science isn't a religion. It's a discipline.
